Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Dubrovnik, and honestly, Apartments Marija Vukas caught me off guard in the best way possible. It’s tucked away on Paska Baburice 2 in Lapad – and I mean really tucked away, which is actually perfect because you’re far enough from the tourist chaos but close enough to everything that matters. The first time I walked up to it, I almost thought I had the wrong address because it feels more like staying at someone’s well-appointed family home than a typical tourist accommodation.

What struck me immediately was how quiet it gets at night. You know how some places in Dubrovnik never really settle down? This isn’t one of them. The street has this lovely residential feel where you’ll hear neighbors chatting on their balconies in the evening, maybe some distant music from the peninsula, but nothing that’ll keep you awake. Marija – and yes, you’ll likely meet her during your stay – has this way of making the whole experience feel effortless. Check-in was one of those rare interactions where someone actually cares about whether you find the good bakery down the street or knows which bus route saves you 20 minutes getting to the Old Town. The apartments themselves are what I’d call thoughtfully simple. Clean lines, everything works (and I mean everything – the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out, the shower has actual water pressure, the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine). There’s this attention to detail that you don’t always get at three-star places… fresh linens that smell like they were dried in actual sunshine, a kitchen setup that’s clearly designed by someone who cooks, not just someone who thinks tourists might want to heat up leftovers.

The location thing is worth talking about because Lapad gets overlooked, but it shouldn’t. You’re about a 15-minute walk to some genuinely lovely beaches – not the crowded postcard ones, but the kind where locals actually swim. The bus connections are solid if you don’t feel like walking everywhere, and there’s this little network of family-run restaurants nearby that you’d never find if you were staying in the Old Town bubble. I kept coming back to how the whole experience felt… unforced, I guess? Like, you’re not paying for marble lobbies or someone in a uniform to carry your bags, but you’re getting something better – a place that actually feels like part of the neighborhood. The 9.7 rating makes sense once you’re there; it’s not trying to be fancy, but it nails all the things that matter when you’re trying to get a real feel for a place rather than just checking tourist boxes.

  The apartment is new, clean, cozy and well located. It's about 5 min from the restaurants in Lapad and 10 min from the beach. The host is fantastic! She is friendly, gives you tips of things to do and best restaurants in the area. She supplies the apartment with absolutely everything from basic stuff to treats like candy, coffee and biscuits. It's about 45 min walking to Dubrovnik old town, but it's good because it's far from the busy streets and areas and you will probably just need to visit the old town once during your stay. I recommend this place 100%.

  Everything was perfect and we had a very lovely time here. Very nice and clean apartment with lots of nice features like a washing machine, airconditioning and lots of appliances. Also Marija was very sweet and had great advices and recomendations.

  The apartment is well equipped of all you possibly need: washing machine and various kitchen utensils that you wouldn’t necessarily find in a rented apartment.
  Marija is very attentive, she has provided all sorts of tips to visit the surrounding facilities and how to get to Dubrovinik.

  The apartment came fully equipped with all the daily necessities. Very clean place. It also has a nice terrace to sit on at night when it’s cooler. It is located at a great spot only a minute walk to the supermarket and bus station. The owner was very kind and helpful.

  We loved the place! Marija is so kind and lovely!
  The apartment is very good is comfortable.
  There is a beach nearby and not far from center. To the old town we went by Uber which was the cheapest and easiest way.
  Definitely is a place that I would stay again when I have the chance to go to Dubrovnik.

  Residential location, a couple of minutes to good bus stop and mini market. Supermarket only 5 minute walk. Access to the old town via the bus was 10mins and beach/coast about a 20 minute walk.

  The accommodation was great for our visit to Dubrovnik. Located on the Lapad Peninsula just outside Old Town Dubrovnik, it was away from the bustle but close enough to get there easily. The owners were very friendly and helpful. They gave us a great recommendation for dinner and tips for getting to/from Old Town.

  Everything was great. Marija is an incredible host. She will help with anything you need. I had an incident with the tire of our car and Marija helped us get that sorted very quickly and at a fair price.
  The apartment has a nice little kitchen where you can cook. It has a large smart tv which can come in handy when you go with the family. The patio was great for relaxing in the evening.The apartment was very clean and Marina waited for us with water and juice in the fridge, wafers and candy on the table.

  Everything was perfect, Marija was very helpful and super generous. The day we arrived was a public holiday and she left us food so as not to starve! And she borrow us a charger because my friend's one broke. She gave us good advise on what to do as well. The location was very good and the apartment very clean and fully equipped, AC and nice TV.
  We would definitely come back.

  Marija is a lovely lady and the place is in top condition for a shortlet. She is very friendly and explains in the first day how to go around the town and what to do. Location is secluded but close to everything. We did enjoys our stay.
  
  What could be improved: It would have been nice to have the option for the main bed to be separated into 2 as we were 3 boys, so 2 young ones had to sleep in the same bed. It wasn't anything major. Overall very good.
