You know what struck me first about Apartments Minerva? The location is absolutely unbeatable – I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Old Town Dubrovnik, surrounded by those incredible limestone walls that everyone comes to see. The A2 one-bedroom apartment sits right in the thick of things, which honestly is both a blessing and something to consider if you’re a light sleeper. During peak summer months, you’ll hear the clip-clop of tourists’ shoes on the ancient stones pretty much until midnight, but I actually found it kind of charming after the first night.

The apartment itself feels genuinely lived-in rather than sterile hotel-room clean, which I appreciated. The bedroom is compact but thoughtfully arranged – there’s actually enough space to properly unpack, and the bed is surprisingly comfortable for a 3-star place. What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to blend modern necessities (decent Wi-Fi, updated bathroom fixtures) with the character of these old stone buildings. The kitchenette is small but functional if you want to grab some fresh produce from the morning market on Gundulić Square – which is maybe a two-minute walk, by the way. I picked up some of those incredible Croatian figs and had them with coffee on the little balcony most mornings.

Speaking of practical stuff, don’t even think about driving here – the Old Town is pedestrian-only, and parking outside the walls will cost you. But honestly, once you’re inside, you won’t want to leave anyway. The Stradun (that’s the main street) is literally around the corner, and you can walk to the city walls, the cathedral, or any of the major sights in under five minutes. I kept running into the same friendly staff member who seemed to know everyone in the neighborhood – she pointed me toward this tiny konoba tucked away on a side street that I never would have found otherwise. The whole experience felt less like staying in tourist accommodation and more like temporarily living in this incredible UNESCO World Heritage site. For the price point and that 8.5 rating, it really delivers on giving you an authentic Dubrovnik experience without the luxury hotel markup. Just pack earplugs if you’re sensitive to sound, and maybe avoid the peak July-August crowds if you can swing it.
