Apartments Nerio Overview

You know what struck me first about Apartments Nerio? The location is actually ridiculous – I mean that in the best way possible. You’re literally on Gunduliceva poljana, which is this charming little square that most tourists stumble through but don’t really *get*. It’s where the morning market happens (the one with all the fresh figs and lavender), and honestly, waking up to the sound of vendors setting up their stalls at 7am is either going to annoy you or make you feel like a proper local. I fell into the latter category.

The apartments themselves are exactly what you’d expect from a solid 3-star place in Old Town – nothing fancy, but they’ve got character and everything actually works. The stone walls are thick enough that you don’t hear every conversation from the street, which is crucial because Dubrovnik gets pretty lively at night. I stayed in one of the upper units and the view wasn’t spectacular or anything, but you could see these lovely terracotta rooftops and catch glimpses of people going about their daily routines. The kitchen was small but functional – I made coffee there every morning and picked up groceries from the little shop just around the corner on Prijeko street.

What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to know the city inside and out. The woman at check-in (I think her name was Ana?) gave me this whole rundown of which restaurants to avoid during peak hours and mentioned this tiny konoba tucked away near the Rector’s Palace that I never would have found otherwise. She was right – it was incredible. The WiFi was solid, the air conditioning worked when the summer heat got brutal, and there’s something to be said for staying in a place where you’re not just another tourist checking boxes. The building itself feels authentic, like it’s been part of the neighborhood forever rather than converted specifically for Airbnb crowds.

I’ll be honest – if you’re looking for a pool or room service, this isn’t your spot. But if you want to actually experience Dubrovnik instead of just visiting it, Apartments Nerio hits that sweet spot. You’re close enough to the main sights that you can walk to the city walls in about three minutes, but far enough from Stradun that you’re not dealing with cruise ship crowds outside your window all day. Plus, that 8.7 rating makes sense once you’ve stayed there – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

Reviews of Apartments Nerio

  • Superb location in the old town and very comfortable accommodations. – Denise from United States – 5 January 2025 (9/10)

The apartment was in an ideal location for seeing old town Dubrovnik, in a courtyard just off the Stradun. It was so convenient to see the Christmas markets and new years celebrations. The apartment was very clean, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen was nice for preparing breakfast.

What could be improved: Our room was up two flights of steep stairs and the kitchen and bath were up another flight of stairs. But the location made up for the stairs.

  • Exceptional – Merve from Turkey – 10 September 2024 (10/10)

Location is great, we were looking for a clean place to stay in the center. The place was sufficient for our expectations.

  • Amazing place, lovely host, great location. – Melanie from Australia – 14 July 2024 (10/10)

fantastic location in the heart of old town, overlooking market square. Host gave us a discount at restaurant across the square.

What could be improved: quite steep stairs to carry suitcases up.

  • Fantastic – Michael from United Kingdom – 30 June 2024 (10/10)

    Location is superb
    Host is attentive

  • Superb – Sonya from United States – 10 October 2023 (9/10)

Great location in Old Towne, the owner spent time with us going over where everything was. Small kitchen in the hall.

What could be improved: You do your own Toilet, but it is in the hallway outside your roon.

  • Exceptional – Chloë from New Zealand – 18 September 2023 (10/10)

Perfect location, beautiful views of the square and seconds away from markets and restaurants. Nerio was really lovely and showed us how everything worked.

  • Exceptional – James from United States – 27 August 2023 (10/10)

    Great location and the A/C!

  • Amazing location in the heart of the Old town – Alessandro from Denmark – 9 August 2023 (8/10)

Amazing location, in the heart of the old town. Despite being an old building in a historical place, it is well renovated with very good shower and bathroom.

What could be improved: Not the most comfortable stay, with problems that are typical of an old building in a historical place like noisy steep stairs with loose handrails, tiny bathroom with very low ceiling, etc. These things were kind of expected, so all ok.

But we missed other small things that could have made a more comfortable stay, with minimum investment, like: a place to hang wet clothes, kitchen towels, set of placemats for the table, a sponge or brush to wash the dishes, a knife that can slice a bread, a coffee maker, more comfortable bed sheets, etc. Small things that could sum-up to provide a greater experience.

  • Perfect for a few nights in the heart of the old city – Ridgeway from United States – 13 June 2023 (9/10)

The location was incredible and the host was very nice. For the price this was everything and more than my group could have asked for.

    What could be improved: nothing

  • Perfect location, quaint traditional apartment. Perfect place to experience your first visit to this beautiful old city – Carol from United Kingdom – 11 June 2023 (8/10)

Fantastic location, central to the old town which was perfect for short visit as avoided additional transport and meant we could enjoy this beautiful city at off-peak times! Host met us and was very helpful. New bathroom … with a view!

What could be improved: Nothing we didn’t like but it might be worth knowing that it’s on two floors, just in case visitors have difficulties with stairs.
