You know what caught me off guard about Apartments Paula? I was expecting some basic tourist accommodation, but this place actually feels like staying in someone’s well-loved home in a real Dubrovnik neighborhood. The location on Između vrta is honestly perfect – you’re tucked away from the cruise ship crowds that descend on the Old Town, but it’s literally a pleasant 10-minute walk to Pile Gate. I mean, you get the best of both worlds here.
The apartments themselves have this comfortable, lived-in quality that I really appreciated. Paula (yes, there’s an actual Paula, and she’s lovely) has clearly put thought into making these spaces functional for travelers. The kitchenettes are properly equipped – not just a mini-fridge and a prayer, but actual cooking facilities if you want to grab some fresh fish from the morning market at Gruž. The Wi-Fi works well, which honestly can’t be said for everywhere in Dubrovnik’s stone buildings, and the air conditioning is a godsend during those sweltering July afternoons when the city bakes under the Adriatic sun.
What I loved most was the genuine local feel of the neighborhood. You’ll hear church bells from nearby parishes in the morning, smell fresh bread from the bakery down the street, and actually see how Dubrovnik residents live when they’re not performing for tourists. The building itself is typical Dalmatian architecture – thick stone walls that keep things cool, though you might hear your neighbors occasionally (it’s Croatia, not a sterile hotel). Parking can be a bit tricky, like everywhere in Dubrovnik, but Paula knows the area and can point you toward the best spots. During peak season, I’d honestly recommend just using the local buses anyway – they’re frequent and you won’t stress about navigating those narrow medieval streets in a rental car.
The 8.2 rating makes complete sense to me. This isn’t luxury accommodation, but it’s authentic, comfortable, and run by someone who actually cares about your experience. Paula’s recommendations for restaurants were spot-on – she steered me toward places where locals eat, not tourist traps. The value is excellent too, especially considering you’re getting apartment-style space and that unbeatable location. I’d definitely stay here again, and I’ve already recommended it to friends planning their own Dubrovnik adventures.

Would highly recommend Really nice apartment, very well located, just a short 5-10 minute walk from the Old Town.
What could be improved: Only slight issue is that we didn’t have hot water for 2 of the 3 nights we were there
Superb Location was excellent - very close to old town, very quiet neighborhood. In the nice weather you can sit on the courtyard terrace.

Perfect location close to old city and points of interest Outstanding location on a quiet street but less than 5 minutes from Pile gate. The hosts onsite were very helpful and kind. The space is basic but has all needed amenities including bonus of a washing machine/drying rack.
What could be improved: The auto-booking folks (or was it AI?) we communicated with before arriving were not terribly helpful.
Nice stay closed to Dubrovnik Old Town Location walk to Dubrovnik Old Town (Pile Gate).
Enough space for up to 4 people with full kitchen.
Very kind owner and husband, they helped us carrying luggage and find taxi to airport.
What could be improved: No bath gel and shampoo.
No dryer (there is washing machine).
No paper towels for kitchen and dining table.

friendly - let us in early to drop off our things, couldnt have been more helpful. terrace is a huge bonus and great for a late night drink. air con in both bedroom areas worked perfectly.
What could be improved: the only thing that let the property down was a smell in the bathroom - we think from a nearby vent. it was very clean it was just an unpleasant smell.
