Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Dubrovnik, and Apartments Villa Ankora honestly surprised me in the best way. You know how sometimes you book a place and cross your fingers it’ll be decent? Well, this wasn’t one of those times. The moment I walked up to the building on Ivana Mažuranića – which, by the way, is this perfectly quiet residential street that most tourists never find – I could tell someone actually cared about this place. The apartments have that crisp, modern feel without being sterile, and the owner (I think his name was Marko?) met me personally at check-in. That’s becoming pretty rare these days.

What really got me was the location, though I mean, you’re literally a 10-minute walk from Pile Gate, but you’re tucked away from all the cruise ship chaos. In the mornings, I’d grab coffee from this little bakery around the corner – locals only, no tourist prices – and actually hear birds instead of tour guides with megaphones. The apartment itself was spacious, which is saying something for Dubrovnik where most places feel like glorified closets. Full kitchen, proper balcony, air conditioning that actually works (trust me, you’ll need it in summer), and honestly the Wi-Fi was faster than what I have at home. The only tiny complaint? The shower pressure could be better, but honestly, after walking the city walls in July heat, I wasn’t too picky.

Here’s what I really appreciated – and this is something you only notice when you’ve done the tourist apartment thing before – everything just worked. The keypad entry meant no awkward key exchanges, there was actually enough hot water for two people to shower, and someone had thought to stock the kitchen with basics like oil and salt. Small stuff, but it matters when you’re trying to save money by cooking breakfast instead of paying €15 for eggs Benedict in the Old Town. Plus, and this is key if you’re visiting in peak season, the street is quiet enough that you can actually sleep with the windows open. I stayed there in August (yeah, I know, rookie mistake timing-wise) and still got decent rest, which is more than I can say for that place I tried near Stradun last year. The 9.1 rating makes total sense – it’s not trying to be fancy, just really, really good at being what it is.

Comfort and well decorated apartment, and A stunning view of the Old town and Fort Lovrijenac!

What could be improved: Everything was perfect!

  • Catherine from United Kingdom – 29 April 2025 (10/10)

Our host arranged the taxi to collect and return us to the airport. He met us on arrival and took us to our apartment (we arrived early). Our host completed our check in efficiently. In our apartment there were quite a few complimentary toiletries, wine and liqueur!

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Neil from United Kingdom – 26 April 2025 (10/10)

    Lovely views from the room

What could be improved: Location was 10 minute walk to old town
Well appointed and clean, friendly owners all good

  • Abbie from United Kingdom – 20 April 2025 (10/10)

Excellent location.. yes there are stairs & inclines, but that is all of Dubrovnik! We managed with two under 2's and a double buggy 😁
A straight walk down takes you to the harbour in about 20 minutes, and about 15 minutes (or less with a buggy!) in to the old town.
There's shops for in house supplies on route, a laundrette, small bar/restaurant.
A very relaxed and lovely stay at the Villa, staff and welcoming absolutely brilliant and accommodating.
Owner arranged airport transfer with a lovely driver, on time and easy drove both ways.

What could be improved: Nothing! All great

  • Susan from United Kingdom – 17 April 2025 (10/10)

The apartment was easy to find and the view from the balcony is stunning! Being able to check in early was very helpful. The location was perfect for us – a short walk into the old town. The stairs back up are a good workout but they give you the chance to stop and look back at the views. We were greeted with a lovely warm welcome and enjoyed sipping the liqueurs provided. A fab place, just wish we had stayed longer!

  • Ieva from Lithuania – 9 April 2025 (10/10)

Everything was perfect, we enjoyed our stay in Dubrovnik. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, views from the windows are beautiful. The only difficulty we faced was finding where to enter into hotel's parking lot. Maybe there should be a sign board of hotel's name put on the main road to make it easier for the guests.

  • Monika from Ireland – 8 April 2025 (10/10)

Very helpful host. She was waiting for us till 2am because our flight was delayed. Apartment is beautiful, very clean, have coffee, tea, and bottle of cherry liquier was waiting for us to have a welcome shot. Highly recommended.

  • Emil from Azerbaijan – 4 April 2025 (10/10)

Very good location. Near to Old town. You can see Old town from balcony of sea view apartment. Nice clean large apartment with balcony. Parking is included if you inform and reserve in advance.

What could be improved: We couldn't find channels for kids in TV.

  • Vernice from United States – 4 April 2025 (9/10)

The apartment was very clean. Great location. The host was very welcoming. Highly recommended.

  • Jeffrey from United States – 30 March 2025 (10/10)

We had a great stay here. Hosts were fantastic. Unlike some places claiming a sea view, here you actually get one. Really liked the free parking too.

What could be improved: Everything was great.
