Apartments Zoro Overview

You know what struck me first about Apartments Zoro? The address – Za Rokom 11 – which literally means “behind the stream,” and there actually used to be a small waterway that ran through this part of Old Town centuries ago. Most tourists have no idea, but when you’re walking those ancient stone streets to get there, you’re literally following the path water once carved through Dubrovnik.

The location is honestly pretty brilliant if you want to be inside the walls without dealing with the absolute chaos of Stradun (the main drag). I mean, you’re still going to hear cruise ship crowds during peak hours – let’s be real, this is Dubrovnik – but Za Rokom feels more like where actual people might live rather than a tourist theme park. It’s one of those narrow streets where you’ll pass the same local woman hanging laundry every morning, and she’ll eventually nod at you like you belong there. The apartments themselves are solid three-star territory – nothing fancy, but everything works, which honestly can’t be said for every place within these medieval walls. The stone walls are thick enough that you won’t hear your neighbors, though you might catch some street sounds if you’re a super light sleeper. I actually found it kind of charming – there’s something about falling asleep to the distant echo of footsteps on centuries-old stones.

What really sells this place is how it sits in the Old Town geography. You’re maybe a three-minute walk from the Rector’s Palace, but tucked away enough that you can actually get some peace. The morning light hits these streets differently too – before 9 AM, you’ll have these gorgeous shadows cutting across the limestone, and the whole area feels almost sacred. Parking is… well, it’s Old Town Dubrovnik, so forget about it. But honestly, once you’re inside those walls, you don’t want to leave anyway. The 8.5 rating makes total sense – it’s not luxury, but it delivers exactly what you need: a genuine Old Town experience without the tourist trap feel. I’d definitely stay here again, especially during shoulder season when you can actually enjoy those narrow streets without getting swept up in cruise ship stampedes.

  • A perfect stay in Dubrovnik in a lovely clean apartment. – Julie from United Kingdom – 4 June 2024 (9/10)

This apartment was perfect for us to stay as it is in a great location, in the old town near the Pile Gate entrance and has no steps to get to the entrance.
It is spotlessly clean and has everything you would need for a short stay in Dubrovnik. Nina the owner is quick to reply to any messages and very helpful with anything you may need. We would recommend this accommodation to anyone visiting Dubrovnik.
We loved the character of this property with its exposed stone walls and wooden ceiling’s.

What could be improved: I guess a couple of hooks for towels may be helpful but overall it is a great apartment to stay in if you want to be close to everything

  • Great location close to Pile Gate in Old Town Dubrovnik. – Daniel from United States – 5 February 2024 (10/10)

I loved the location because it was so close to Pile Gate…There are many many stairs in Dubrovnik..This eliminated that whole issue. You did have to take your luggage (in my case just one flight…) to the apartment but very manageable.

    What could be improved: nothing
