Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Dubrovnik over the years, and honestly? Most hotels either stick you right in the chaos of the Old Town where you can’t sleep past 7 AM, or they dump you so far out that you need a sherpa to find anything interesting. The Aria Suite & SPA gets this balance absolutely right – it’s tucked away in Mokošica, which I know sounds like middle-of-nowhere when you’re planning from home, but trust me on this one.

The thing about Mokošica is that it’s where actual Dubrovnik residents live, you know? So you’re getting this authentic slice of Croatian life – there’s a fantastic little bakery about two minutes’ walk away where the owner, Marko, makes these incredible burek pastries that’ll ruin you for hotel breakfast forever. But here’s the genius part: you’re still only about 15 minutes from Pile Gate, and the hotel actually runs a shuttle that beats dealing with parking in the Old Town (which is basically impossible anyway, especially in summer). The location means you get to experience Dubrovnik without the tourist madness, then retreat to what feels like your own private sanctuary.

The spa here is – well, honestly, it’s the kind of place that makes you forget you’re supposed to be sightseeing. I mean, after spending a day climbing those city walls in 90-degree heat, sinking into their thermal pools feels like actual magic. The treatments use local ingredients too, which sounds gimmicky until you try their sea salt scrub and realize your skin has never felt better. The suites themselves are spacious in a way that’s rare for this part of Europe – actual room to spread out your stuff, and the bathrooms have those deep soaking tubs that are perfect after long days exploring. What really got me though was how quiet it is at night. You’re close enough to town that you don’t feel isolated, but far enough that you actually sleep properly.

The staff here operates on that Croatian hospitality level where they genuinely seem to care whether you’re having a good time. Marina at the front desk knows every bus schedule, every restaurant worth trying, and somehow always knows exactly when the cruise ship crowds will be thickest (avoid Stradun between 10 AM and 2 PM on weekdays, thank me later). The whole place has this relaxed, almost residential feel – like staying at a really well-appointed friend’s house rather than a hotel. And look, with a 9.7 rating, I’m clearly not the only one who thinks they’ve figured something out here. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to plan your next Dubrovnik trip before you’ve even left.

  What could be improved: Everything was great. Location was an easy Uber ride into Old Town which suited us as we could dip in and out when we wanted. Great restaurant Megi near the apartment with better food and cheaper price compared to the centre and little local beach/swim spot.

  I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Aria Suite & Spa! The suite is beautifully designed and filled with natural light, making it feel so open and airy. Waking up to sunlight streaming through the windows was a great way to start each day. The private jacuzzi on the balcony was a true highlight, offering stunning views while relaxing in total comfort. The in-suite sauna was another fantastic touch – perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. The attention to detail and luxurious amenities made my stay unforgettable.   Host was excellent, the whirlpool and heat room was such a bonus – the apartment is an excellent option for anyone looking for a relaxing holiday in Dubrovnik. I would recommend 100%!
