Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about B&B Villa Dubrovnik Garden? The name actually undersells it. I mean, sure, it’s technically a bed and breakfast, but when you’re staying on Ivana Mazuranica street – which, honestly, most tourists can’t even pronounce – you’re getting something that feels more like a local secret than your typical accommodation.
The location is one of those things that sounds boring on paper but works perfectly in practice. You’re about a 15-minute walk from the Old Town walls, which means you dodge the cruise ship crowds that descend on the main tourist strips every morning around 9 AM. I actually preferred this distance because you can grab coffee at one of the neighborhood spots (there’s this little place two blocks down that locals hit up before work) and then stroll into the madness when you’re ready for it. The walk itself is pretty pleasant – you’ll pass some traditional Dalmatian stone houses and get glimpses of the Adriatic between buildings. Plus, and this matters if you’re traveling in summer, the evening walk back is uphill but not brutally so, and there’s usually a nice breeze.
What really makes this place work is the garden they actually bothered to mention in the name. It’s not massive or Instagram-perfect, but it’s got this lived-in quality with olive trees and lavender that smells incredible in the evening. The owners – and you’ll meet them, this isn’t some corporate chain – clearly put effort into making it feel like an actual Croatian home rather than a tourist trap. The breakfast situation is solid too, though don’t expect a buffet setup. It’s more like what your Croatian grandmother might make if she was trying to impress you: fresh bread, local cheeses, maybe some prosciutto, and coffee that’s actually strong enough to wake you up. They’ll usually ask the night before what time you want to eat, which I appreciated because you’re not locked into some rigid 7-9 AM window.
The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star place – clean, comfortable beds, decent WiFi that actually works (tested it with video calls), and bathrooms that feel recently updated. Nothing fancy, but nothing to complain about either. The 8.1 rating feels about right; it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s not going to disappoint either. One thing worth noting is that Croatian buildings tend to have thick walls, so noise wasn’t an issue even though you’re still in a residential area where people actually live and work.
Honestly, if you’re the type who needs to be right in the heart of everything, this might not be your spot. But if you want to experience Dubrovnik more like a temporary resident than a tourist – grabbing groceries at the local market, nodding hello to the same shopkeeper each morning, actually seeing how the city works when it’s not performing for visitors – then Villa Dubrovnik Garden hits that sweet spot. It’s not trying to be anything more than what it is: a comfortable, well-run place where you can base yourself while exploring one of Croatia’s most beautiful cities.

Reviews
A great place to stay in Dubrovnik that is slightly out of the old town hustle and bustle, the room was what we needed a – Woffendin from United Kingdom – 6 July 2025 (8/10)
The setting of the building was beautiful, with a lovely garden and a great view from the room. The host provided great service, with a simple check in process and a nice breakfast which we paid extra for. We really enjoyed our stay.
What could be improved: the main downside of the property is the steps you need to go up to get there from the old town, it can be tiring. However this is typical of Dubrovnik so I wouldn’t let it put you off.
We also thought that the breakfast cost, although it was very nice, was quite expensive. Around 40 euros for what was basically a continental breakfast for 2. Saying that, it was lovely to eat in the garden so we are not unhappy, just worth thinking about.Very good – Elijas from Austria – 5 July 2025 (8/10)
Solid Basic Interieur.
What could be improved: Be carefull of the directions Google Maps will send you to get there – a normal street suddenly becomes "resident area" and If you drive through you have to pay a big fine (240€). Because of Google we probably get that fine now. Best thing to do is get into a parking garage or ask the host beforehand, if she still has available spotsGreat location, stunning gardens – Louise from United Kingdom – 30 June 2025 (7/10)
Location and proximity to the centre was excellent. Gardens were beautiful. Fridge was handy
What could be improved: While charming, it is old fashioned and could do with some modern furniture and a refit in the bathroom. That said, we weren't in the room much so we managed for the three nights we were thereSuperb – Lincoln from Canada – 23 June 2025 (9/10)
Excellent location, near the old town, but felt like a peaceful oasis from the busy city. We enjoyed sitting out on the balcony amongst the many flowers and trees.
What could be improved: The shower was a little difficult to use.Hostess was considerate and kind: let us drop our bags off before check-in, and facilitated an early check-in when my hu – Keren from South Africa – 20 June 2025 (8/10)
Did not have lots of stairs (for Dubrovnik!)!!
Apartment had separate sitting room and balcony.
What could be improved: Plug point were old and loose – made me nervous. Bathroom was tiny.Superb – Luís from Brazil – 10 June 2025 (9/10)
The staff is very helpfull and the room is confortable! There is a market There is a market very close to the room!
What could be improved: The stairsLovely house close to the old town – Marcio from Brazil – 21 May 2025 (9/10)
The room is spacious. The house is at a walking distance from the old town, although you have to go up some stairs. Good bed, bathroom, blinds. Very nice garden and lovely place.
What could be improved: Since it's a house with some rooms, they could provide at least a common fridge for the guests. It was in the description of the room (fridge), but I didn't see any. Also, paying by cash on arrival is a bit inconvenient. Please use more soap when cleaning the sheets. It makes us feel sure they were actually washed.Lovely place in a peaceful area, close to the town. – Sarah from United Kingdom – 17 May 2025 (8/10)
Beautiful gardens, peaceful area, lots of thoughtful touches (shampoo, tea/coffee and chocolates in the room)
Amazing – Varsha from India – 3 May 2025 (9/10)
This place is absolutely beautiful and definitely worth the money. The location is perfect—close to the old town, and situated on a slight hill, which gives you a stunning view of the sea just by walking around. There’s a supermarket nearby, which is super convenient. Plus, I can’t say enough good things about Lena, who runs this place. She’s incredibly sweet, helpful, and went above and beyond to assist me with so many things. She’s so understanding and made my stay even more enjoyable
What could be improved: They should option to pay by credit card at propertyOasis – Catherine from Canada – 3 May 2025 (9/10)
This place feels like an oasis nestled above old town Dubrovnik. The room was great and there was a lovely lush patio area to sit in just outside the room.
What could be improved: The stairs are a killer with luggage but nothing you can do about that.
