You know what struck me first about this place? The address – I. G. Kovačića 89 – puts you in this quiet residential pocket of Dubrovnik that honestly feels like a secret. I mean, you’re still close enough to hear the distant hum of the Old Town (maybe a 15-minute walk down the hill), but without all the cruise ship crowds trampling past your window at 7 AM.

The apartment itself is deceptively spacious – two proper bedrooms, two full bathrooms, which is honestly rare for Dubrovnik where most places cram you into converted medieval closets. But here’s the thing that’ll make you forget about square footage: that sea view. I’m talking about waking up to the Adriatic stretching out like it’s showing off, especially from the main bedroom where the morning light just floods in. The locals call this stretch of coast “the blue highway” and you’ll get why when you see it from up here. The kitchen actually faces the water too, so you can make your coffee while watching the ferry boats chug toward the islands – there’s something oddly meditative about it.

What I really appreciated was how the owner clearly lives in Dubrovnik (or at least gets it). There’s proper blackout curtains – crucial when the summer sun starts blazing at 5:30 AM – and the AC units are newer models that don’t sound like jet engines. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the whole place, which seems basic but you’d be surprised how many Croatian rentals still have dead zones. Parking’s included in a little lot behind the building, and honestly, that alone probably saves you 20 euros a day and countless headaches navigating Dubrovnik’s medieval street maze with a rental car.

The neighborhood itself has this lived-in feel that I love – there’s a small grocery store (Studenac) about three minutes’ walk where you can grab essentials, and the locals actually nod hello instead of just seeing you as another tourist wallet. You’re positioned perfectly to explore beyond the Old Town too – Lapad Beach is maybe 10 minutes by bus, and if you’re feeling adventurous, the hiking trails up Mount Srđ start basically from your backyard. That 9.5 rating makes total sense when you realize you’re getting genuine Croatian hospitality without paying Old Town prices or dealing with Old Town noise levels (those limestone streets echo everything). It’s the kind of place where you actually want to cook dinner and sit on the terrace with a bottle of local wine, watching the sun set over the islands, instead of rushing out to tourist restaurants every night.

  This apartment is located near the main bus station and also the Dubrovnik port. The rooms are clean and the sea view is beautiful. Mr. Zoran is a nice person who gave us many helpful suggestions on transportation and restaurants. We really enjoyed the staying here.

  Excellent location in Port Gruz area, ideal for exploring, as just 5 minutes walk to restaurants, supermarket and to local bus stops and the main Dubrovnik bus station.
  We used the apartment as a base to explore not only Dubrovnik but Kotor and Mostar too. It’s on a hill which was fine for us, some may prefer to take uber for the short journey.
  We received a warm welcome and always offers of help from Vesna who was friendly and attentive throughout our stay. We also received lots of welcoming messages and information about the local area from Zoran.
  The apartment was comfortable, well equipped and very clean. A laundry service was offered if required.

  Property had an elevated view over the port and beyond from the deck. Good kitchen with appliances and cutlery supplied. The owner was excellent, Zoran meet us when we were been dropped off and explained everything we needed to know about the property and surrounding neighborhood. It is an easy walk to restaurants, bakery, supermarket, bus terminal etc.
  
  What could be improved: Bottom bedroom has minimal room around the bed and if you have any sort of disability the stairs to the upper level are steep and the ceiling is low in areas of the bedroom due to it been a loft. However the upper room is comfortable and also has a bathroom.

  Beautiful apartment located up the hill from Dubrovnik Port. The apartment was modern and well stocked and the view was incredible. Zoran (the host) was very helpful and gave us some great recommendations.
