Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of places in Dubrovnik, and honestly? Begović Guest House is one of those finds that makes you feel a little smug about your booking skills. It’s tucked away on Primorska Street – which, if you know the area, puts you in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to everything but far enough from the cruise ship crowds that descend on Stradun every morning.
The place has this authentic Croatian family-run vibe that’s getting harder to find these days. I mean, it’s officially a 3-star property, but that 9.1 rating isn’t just for show – there’s something about the way they run things that feels genuinely caring. The rooms are what you’d expect from a traditional stone house (and I’m pretty sure parts of this building are seriously old), but they’ve been updated thoughtfully. You know what I loved? The windows actually open properly, and on quieter evenings you can hear the gentle hum of local life rather than tourist chatter. The bathrooms are compact but functional – hot water was consistent, which isn’t always a given in these historic buildings.
What really sets Begović apart is the location knowledge you get from staying here. The family clearly knows Dubrovnik inside and out, and they’re the type who’ll tell you that the best burek is actually three streets over, not at the touristy spot everyone raves about online. Parking can be tricky in this part of town (honestly, it’s tricky everywhere in Dubrovnik), but they helped sort that out without the usual runaround. The walk to the Old Town takes maybe 10 minutes if you’re strolling, five if you’re eager to get to the walls before the heat hits. But here’s the thing – you’re also perfectly positioned for those evening walks along the coast when the day-trippers have gone back to their ships and the city actually breathes again. I found myself coming back here in the late afternoon, maybe grabbing a coffee from the little place around the corner, just enjoying the fact that I wasn’t staying in some generic hotel zone. The breakfast setup is simple but proper – fresh bread, local cheese, decent coffee that actually tastes like coffee. It’s the kind of place where you might end up chatting with other guests about hidden beaches or which restaurant reservations are actually worth the hassle.

Superb vacation in Dubrovnik – Anette from Sweden – 20 June 2024 (10/10)
Everything was great. The country, the town, the apartment, the hosts. Bega and his mum are so nice and helpful. All recommendations about restaurants, transfers/local buses, excursions etc helped us a lot.
Recommend for a relaxed stay close enough to old city – Rosa from United Kingdom – 15 May 2024 (10/10)
Spacious. Excellent location with beautiful views and great host that goes above and beyond with helpful local tips
What could be improved: N.a. Everything was excellentExceptional – Michel from Canada – 10 August 2023 (10/10)
Loved the information we got to make the best of our stay in Dubrovnik! The day in Lopud was wonderful! Thanks!
Exceptional – Francisco from United States – 9 August 2023 (10/10)
great location and lovely hosts!
A lovely, safe place run by a great family, which altogether make travelling experience so enjoyable. – Aisha from Kyrgyzstan – 30 July 2023 (8/10)
The host and his family are super helpful, friendly, kind and overall just nice people! Bega provided all info about Dubrovnik attractions and near-by places – when, where, what to buy/go/eat/shop/chill – some really good recommendations that I used. And also info about the room and property. They gave access to the washing machine, and you can even ask his lovely mom to help with a quick laundry (which I did not feel comfortable to do). He and his spouse even helped me with Uber to the bus station (they are very nice, I told you). Bega gives his whatsapp in case there any issues. One evening came and warned me about the rain storm coming 🙂
The room is not large, but is very (!) clean and had everything I needed, even a nice balcony with a chair, a table, and a drying rack.
I found location even more pleasant then the old town/center of Dubrovnik. There is a nice shop nearby, a bus stop, a nice promenade with bars and restaurants, a beach, and some beautiful secluded rocky areas with stairs to the water and some old evergreen trees, which I enjoyed the most. The water is just unreal in terms of color and temperature. And definitely there are less tourists and better prices ) There are places that offer water activities as well.
What could be improved: The only thing that one should bear in mind – if you plan to walk, you need to climb stairs to get to the place. No problem for the healthy people w/o mobility issues. I even kinda liked it )Exceptional – Ewab from Poland – 4 July 2023 (10/10)
The owners are the best! Bega and his mother take great care of the guests. Amazing location – close to the promenade, beach, restaurants and market. Clean, well-kept rooms. I really recommend 😊
Relaxing stay – Irina from Latvia – 17 August 2022 (10/10)
We enjoyed our stay with a wonderful view. It was close to the main beach and street full of restaurants and close to public transportation to easily get to the old town. The host was kind and friendly and gave us all the necessary information.
Superb – Alexandra from Germany – 29 May 2025 (9/10)
The family are welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. The room has everything you need.
What could be improved: –Really good vibes in a peaceful area, good room. And near the beach, host was wonderful and helpful. Gave us great tips – Pihla from Finland – 17 May 2024 (10/10)
Really liked the location and our room. And our host was very helpful and friendly. Good guy!
What could be improved: Nope nothing to complain.Very good – Ishan from Belgium – 14 May 2024 (8/10)
Located in lapad, a short bus ride away from the old town . Lapad itself has some nice secluded beaches and good restaurants. The host and his family make all the effort for you to have a comfortable stay and give you some good recommendations for food and travel.
What could be improved: The housekeeping and general cleanliness could be improved a little. As it is a family run establishment there is no daily housekeeping as such but the rooms are generally clean . The bathrooms are decent.
