This little spot absolutely surprised me, and I mean that in the best way possible. It’s tucked away in Ploce, which is actually perfect because you’re close enough to walk into Dubrovnik’s old town without dealing with all the cruise ship chaos that hits the main tourist strips. The whole area has this authentic Croatian neighborhood vibe – you’ll hear locals chatting on their balconies in the morning, and there’s a fantastic little bakery just around the corner where the smell of fresh bread basically becomes your alarm clock.
The hotel itself feels like someone’s thoughtfully renovated family place rather than some corporate chain property. The rooms are clean and comfortable (honestly, the beds are better than some 4-star places I’ve stayed), and here’s something I really appreciated – the staff actually knows the area. When I asked about getting to Lokrum Island, the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a generic tourist brochure; he told me exactly which ferry times to avoid the crowds and mentioned this hidden swimming spot that turned out to be incredible. The whole check-in process was smooth too, no weird bureaucratic hoops to jump through. Parking can be a bit tight during peak summer months – I mean, this is Croatia’s coast we’re talking about – but they’ve got a system worked out with nearby spots.
What really sets Blue Lagune apart though is how it manages to feel both relaxed and well-run at the same time. The common areas have this laid-back Mediterranean energy, and you’ll often find guests just hanging out, swapping travel stories over coffee. The location on Frana Čale puts you in this sweet spot where you can walk to Dubrovnik’s walls in about fifteen minutes, but you’re not paying those insane old town hotel prices or dealing with the noise of late-night party groups stumbling through narrow streets. Plus, there’s decent public transport connections if you want to explore further up the coast – the bus stop is literally a three-minute walk. I stayed here in September, which I’d totally recommend because the weather’s still gorgeous but the summer crowds have mostly cleared out. Honestly, for a 3-star place, Blue Lagune punches way above its weight, and that 9 rating makes complete sense once you experience how everything just… works. It’s the kind of place you’d actually want to return to, not just endure for a few nights.

Excellent apartment for Dubrovnik - great location, fresh and bright. Great location close to Old Town and bus top from airport. Host was lovely and helpful and really accommodating. This was a nice, bright, fresh and clean room with lovely view and fresh air from location looking out to the sea and old town.
What could be improved: Nothing.
Pleasant and convenient stay A lovely clean apartment close to the bus stop to catch the shuttle bus to the airport. The view of Dubrovnik old town from the outside terrace was beautiful. The owner was very helpful and friendly. She brought us cold drinks on arrival and gave us information on Dubrovnik and the shuttle buses.
What could be improved: The mattress, very hard with a plastic cover which woke us several times during the night. Also our apartment was close to the exit door. People passed between our terrace and front door several times as the left or entered the property.
Lovely place in a great position Lovely host who couldn’t do enough to help. Great location near the cable car entrance and a short walk to the old town walls. Lovely room, tastefully decorated with good air conditioning.

Fantastic! The location was great a short 5 minute walk down steps to the old town. Anna and husband were the perfect hosts. Lovely view over city walls from terrace. Highly recommend this apartment.

Comfortable and clean room in great location with view over the sea and Old Town. Comfortable and clean compact room. View is lovely and location is great - just a quick walk down the stairs to the Old Town. Hosts were very helpful and friendly.

What could be improved: There's no parking with the apartment, which we knew from the apartment description, so if you have a car you will need to use one of the car parks that can be expensive. Host recommended one that was €25 per 24 hours plus a bus ride to get to the apartment at €2.5 per person (as at June 25) so bear that in mind. This was one of the cheaper options available and Dubrovnik is very busy and has recently introduced new traffic rules.
24 hours in Dubrovnik was memorable thanks to Blue Lagune With only one night in Dubrovnik, we booked the Blue Lagune based on its location to the old city and its price. Compared to other properties, we felt we won the lottery. Besides location and value, the staff at Blue Lagune were very helpful and willing to assist us with our situation. Momma booked us a taxi into town the following day, knowing the the luggage we were hauling around would have been a bit too much in heat.
What could be improved: There are two enterances into the property and soon learned the "other one" was a tad easier to access than the other. Unfortunately, the bus we took from the airport left us with a number of uphill stairs to bring our suitcases. This is no fault of Blue Lagune, but a word of advice for those traveling into the city on the airport bus and staying at Blue Lagune.
perfect place to stay in dubrovnik just outside old town. amazing host perfect location in dubrovnik - 5 min walk to old town walls (better staying just outside of it) & old town view from the garden terrace.
the host was lovely, friendly and very hospitable we very much appreciated. room is clean and spacious enough, bathroom/shower the best we had experienced in balkans.

♥️♥️♥️ Everything......it was thoroughly enjoyable. The host was really nice and friendly and very informative. Couldn't do enough for us, was just like being at home. We felt very welcome and comfortable. Very clean ,and handy to everything we wanted to do. Very close to the chairlift, and not too many steps to climb from the street. Fantastic view over the bay.
Perfect for us an elderly couple.
