Blue Star Apartments Overview
So here’s the thing about Blue Star Apartments – it’s one of those places that doesn’t look like much from the outside, but honestly, that’s kind of the point. You’re staying in Ploče, which I mean, most tourists have never even heard of, but it’s actually this perfect sweet spot about 15 minutes from Old Town Dubrovnik. The building sits on Zlatni potok street (which translates to “Golden Stream” if you’re curious), and while the neighborhood feels properly residential, you’re not stuck in some tourist bubble.
What really got me was how quiet it gets at night – like, genuinely quiet, not that fake hotel quiet where you still hear ice machines and hallway conversations. The apartments themselves are surprisingly spacious, and I’m talking about actual kitchens here, not those sad hotel kitchenettes with a mini-fridge and a prayer. The owner, who you’ll probably meet during check-in, has this way of explaining everything without making you feel like you’re getting a sales pitch. She’ll tell you which bakery opens earliest (it’s the one two blocks down, opens at 6 AM), and more importantly, she’ll explain the bus situation to get into Dubrovnik proper. Trust me, you want to know about the buses.
The whole setup feels like staying at a friend’s place – if your friend happened to have really good taste in linens and knew how to keep a bathroom properly ventilated. There’s this little terrace situation where you can actually sit with coffee in the morning, and you know what? You can see a sliver of the Adriatic if you crane your neck just right. It’s not a “sea view” in the marketing sense, but it’s there. The WiFi actually works, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places in Croatia still struggle with that. Parking is… well, it’s Croatia, so it’s never perfect, but there’s usually something within a block or two, and honestly, once you’re settled, you won’t need the car much anyway.
I keep coming back to the location because it’s really the secret sauce here. You’re close enough to walk to some genuinely good restaurants (the konoba down the hill does this octopus thing that’s ridiculous), but you’re not dealing with cruise ship crowds stumbling past your window at midnight. The 8.9 rating makes sense when you think about it – this isn’t luxury, but it’s exactly what it says it is, done really well. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the water pressure in the shower is actually impressive. After a day of walking around Dubrovnik’s stone streets, that matters more than you’d think.

What could be improved: NothingPerfect small apartment for couples – Hannah from United Kingdom – 23 June 2025 (10/10)
Exceptionally clean, comfortable with all the amenities we required. Comfortable bed and good shower with plenty of hot water.
Ismail was an excellent host and met us 10 minutes after we checked in. He was welcoming, professional, friendly and knowledgeable and gave us lots of valuable information about what to do in Dubrovnik.
What could be improved: NothingVery good – Diogo from Portugal – 12 June 2025 (8/10)
The view was amazing
What could be improved: The stairs and was plus 20 minutes from old townGreat value, especially for single person stay – Rolands from Latvia – 6 June 2025 (8/10)
Good location, it’s only few minutes walking to the old town if you walk from apartment (other way is much heavier as you need to climb the hill). Very clean inside. Apartments equipped with all personal hygiene supplementals
What could be improved: Very high audibility between rooms. You can hear every word talking by your neighbours of the same floor. Fells like everyone would even notice yours heavy breathing.Totally recommend – Greenodette from Poland – 5 June 2025 (10/10)
Clean, comfortable, 15 minutes by walk to the old town, bus stop nearby, perfect view from the balcony, good wifi and very welcoming host.
Ismail is very dedicated as a host. We used airport transfer option as well. Even if he does not respond in a minute, don't worry he has everything under control. In case of any problem he is ready to help.
Yes there are thousands of stairs (like in whole Dubrovnik) and yes it is worthy.
I totally recommend this place.Superb – Alicja from Austria – 3 June 2025 (9/10)
Well-equipped apartment, located in a nice, less crowded area of Dubrovnik.
What could be improved: A coffee machine would be a nice addition.Good stay in Dubrovnik – Eirini from United Kingdom – 20 May 2025 (10/10)
Very small but has everything you need for a couple of nights in Dubrovnik. About 15min walk to old town, communication from owner was excellent. Free toiletries as well.
What could be improved: Other guests arriving late and being very loud but that's not apartment's fault, just inconsiderate people!Amazing – Poornima from India – 25 April 2025 (10/10)
Exceptional view, close to old town but away from the chaos. Ismail made the whole process so easy and had tonnes of recommendations to try in Dubrovnik. Very pleasant stay, the apartment has everything. Just a little bit of climbing required.
What could be improved: —Beautiful location, comfortable and cosy apartment – Catherine from United Kingdom – 15 April 2025 (9/10)
Beautiful view, private veranda, well equipped, clean, quiet, comfortable.
What could be improved: It was a bit of a walk into the Old Town – this wasn't a problem as we like walking, but anyone who doesn't like walking should be aware it is 25 mins each way.
A minor point, but the wardrobe was exceptionally high up! One of us struggled to reach it.Perfect and comfortable stay with amazing view of old town and sea – Natalia from Poland – 15 April 2025 (10/10)
This was the best equipped apartment I’ve ever been to. Had everything you might need during vacation and the view was spectacular
What could be improved: Nothing, all good
