You know what struck me first about Blue & Top Spot? The name honestly sounds like it was translated by someone’s cousin who took English in high school, but don’t let that fool you – this place punches way above its weight class. I mean, when you’re getting an 8.8 rating as a 3-star hotel in Dubrovnik, someone’s clearly doing something right. The location on Ulica bana Josipa Jelačića (try saying that three times fast) puts you right in the heart of Lapad, which is actually perfect if you want to avoid the tourist circus of Old Town while still being close enough to matter.

Here’s the thing about Lapad that most people don’t realize until they get there – it’s where the locals actually hang out. You’ve got the gorgeous Lapad Bay literally a few minutes’ walk away, and I’m talking about that perfect crescent of beach where Croatian families spend their weekends, not the overcrowded spots where cruise ship passengers get dropped off. The hotel sits on this tree-lined street that feels refreshingly normal after you’ve been dodging selfie sticks all day in the old city. There’s this lovely buzz in the evenings when people are heading to dinner, and you can actually hear the sound of the Adriatic if you open your windows at night – well, depending on which side of the building you’re on.

What really impressed me was how the staff seemed to genuinely care about making your stay work. Check-in was smooth (no standing around for twenty minutes while they figure out their computer system), and they actually knew the neighborhood well enough to point you toward the good bakery around the corner and away from the tourist traps. The rooms are clean and comfortable without trying to be something they’re not – you’re not getting marble bathrooms or whatever, but everything works and it feels fresh. Honestly, after spending a day walking those ancient stone streets, you just want a decent bed and a hot shower, right? The WiFi actually works too, which… let’s just say that’s not always a given in this part of the world. One small thing – if you’re driving, ask about parking when you book because street parking in Lapad can be a bit of a treasure hunt during summer months, and you don’t want to be circling the block with your luggage melting in the Croatian sun.

  Apartment is modern, clean, cool and well-equipped. Safe garage to park if you have a car. Great spot for taking public transport to either Pile gate or Lapad. Also walkable but two small kids in a heat wave made the bus a must. Nice view. Yummy burger take out and market just outside.

  Die Lage war optimal, öffentliche Bushaltestelle vor der Tür. Supermarkt, Kiosk, Street Food und Bar in unmittelbarer Nähe. Ausblick auf das Meer.

  Lokacija objekta je idealna, sve vam je na dohvat ruke i skoro pa i nema potrebe za autom.
  Objekat čist, uredan i ima sve što je potrebno, čak i više od toga.
  
  What could be improved: Parking je jedina zamjerka iako je vlasnik na kraju riješio parking mjesto, malo je na nezgodnom mjestu za ući s niskim autom, ali ne možemo na sve utjecati.
