Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about Boutique Hotel Porto? The name’s completely misleading – this isn’t some Portuguese throwback, it’s actually tucked right into Dubrovnik’s Ploče neighborhood, just a few minutes’ walk from the Old Town but far enough away that you’re not hearing drunk tourists singing at 2 AM. The location on Hrvatskog crvenog kriza is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re staying where locals actually live, not in some tourist bubble.

I mean, calling it a 4-star feels almost conservative when you see the place – whoever designed this really understood that travelers today want character over cookie-cutter luxury. The rooms have this modern Croatian aesthetic that doesn’t try too hard, and honestly, the attention to detail is what gets you. Small things like the locally-sourced toiletries and the way they’ve incorporated traditional Dalmatian stone work without making it feel like a museum. The staff actually knows the neighborhood too, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how rare that is. They’ll tell you which konoba serves the best black risotto (and it’s not the obvious tourist trap everyone ends up at) or when the morning fish market is worth checking out.

What really sold me though was how quiet it stays despite being so close to everything. You can walk to Pile Gate in maybe 15 minutes – less if you take the shortcut through the residential streets – but you’re sleeping in actual peace. The 9.1 rating makes sense when you experience it; it’s not trying to be the flashiest place in Dubrovnik, but everything just… works. Check-in was smooth, the rooms are spotless without feeling sterile, and there’s this little terrace area where you can actually have your morning coffee without fighting crowds of cruise ship passengers. I stayed there in late September and the whole experience felt more like visiting a friend’s really well-appointed apartment than staying in a hotel. Plus, parking isn’t the nightmare it is closer to the Old Town – they’ve got arrangements that actually make sense instead of leaving you to figure out Dubrovnik’s maze of parking restrictions on your own.

    Wonderful bathroom, excellent breakfast.

  • Gareth from United Kingdom – 17 May 2025 (9/10)

The property looks all but new. It’s spotlessly clean and to a very high standard. The bathrooms are gorgeous and high water pressure with ritual bath products. Mini bar in the room and all usual facilities. Beds were comfortable too. The 1A bus stop to the old town is 59 feet to the right when u leave the hotel and you can tap on board or buy at the booth. It’s super easy to the old town. Food and drinks were great. Breakfast was good too. Staff are friendly and efficient.

What could be improved: The rooms at the back are shadowed somewhat by a nearby building so our room needed a light on during the day. Certainly not a big deal but just to mention.
