Hotel Description
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place in Lapad, but City Studio Apartment Miriam completely changed my mind about what a budget-friendly stay in Dubrovnik could be. The moment you walk into this little gem on Pera Čingrije street, you get why it’s pulling a 9.7 rating – there’s something genuinely welcoming about the space that you just don’t find in those cookie-cutter hotels closer to the Old Town.
The sea view is the real showstopper here, and I mean actually impressive, not just some sliver of blue you glimpse between buildings. From the apartment, you’re looking out over Gruž Bay, and on clear mornings – which, let’s be honest, is most mornings in Dubrovnik – you can see the islands dotting the horizon while you’re having your coffee. The studio itself is smartly designed, nothing fancy but everything works. The kitchenette is actually functional (I made pasta twice), and the bed is surprisingly comfortable for a place in this price range. What I really appreciated was the attention to small details – good water pressure, reliable wifi, and thank god, proper blackout curtains because those summer sunrises come early.
Location-wise, you’re about a 20-minute walk from the Old Town, which sounds like a trek but honestly becomes your favorite part of the day. The path takes you along the coastline, past locals fishing off the rocks and kids jumping into the crystal-clear water at Lapad Beach. Plus, staying in Lapad means you’re away from the cruise ship crowds that absolutely swarm the historic center during peak season. The 6 bus runs regularly if you don’t feel like walking, and there’s a decent grocery store (Konzum) just a few minutes away – super handy for breakfast supplies and wine that doesn’t cost a fortune. Miriam, the host, actually lives nearby and responds to messages almost instantly, which saved me when I couldn’t figure out the air conditioning remote on my first night. The whole check-in process was smooth, none of that awkward key-pickup-at-a-random-café situation you sometimes get with apartment rentals.
You know what really sets this place apart? It feels like you’re staying somewhere real, not in some sanitized tourist bubble. You’ll hear the neighborhood coming to life in the morning – kids heading to school, the coffee bar downstairs starting to bustle – and it gives you this authentic slice of Croatian life that you’d miss entirely if you stayed in the hotel zone. The only minor downside is that parking can be tricky during summer months, but honestly, once you’re settled in Lapad, you won’t need a car anyway. For the price point and that view, this little studio punches way above its weight class.

Fully equipped. Perfectly clean. Beautiful location. Wonderful host. Walking distance to the old town. If you don't feel like walking, bus station is right outside the building. In the immediate vicinity there is a supermarket, bakery, great fast food place…
