First thing you notice walking up is how quiet this stretch of Lapad feels compared to the tourist madness closer to the Old Town. I mean, you’re still only about a 15-minute bus ride from Pile Gate, but there’s something refreshingly normal about this neighborhood. You’ll see locals heading to work in the morning, kids playing in the small park nearby, that sort of authentic slice of life that’s getting harder to find in Dubrovnik these days.

The apartment itself surprised me – and I don’t say that lightly after seeing so many “three-star” places that barely deserve two. The space actually feels lived-in rather than sterile, if that makes sense. There’s proper kitchen equipment (not just a sad little kettle and broken coffee maker), decent water pressure in the shower, and – this matters more than you’d think – blackout curtains that actually work. The bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with a medieval torture device, which honestly puts it ahead of half the places I’ve tried in the area. What really won me over was the little balcony – nothing fancy, but perfect for morning coffee while watching the neighborhood wake up. You can catch glimpses of the Adriatic between the buildings if you crane your neck just right.

The owner clearly knows what travelers actually need versus what looks good in photos. There’s a washing machine (lifesaver if you’re doing the island-hopping thing), reliable WiFi throughout, and proper storage space – you know, the practical stuff that makes a week-long stay feel manageable rather than like you’re living out of a suitcase. Parking can be a bit tricky during peak summer months, but there’s usually something within a block or two if you’re patient. The local bus stop is literally a two-minute walk, and those buses run frequently enough that you won’t be checking your watch constantly. Plus, you’re walking distance to some genuinely good restaurants that haven’t been completely overrun by tour groups yet – there’s this little konoba about five minutes away that does incredible black risotto, though I won’t name it here because it’s already busy enough. Honestly, for the price point and the perfect-10 rating from other guests, CityView Apartment feels like one of those rare finds that delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises.

  What could be improved: Better description of where the apartment was located would be helpful. Carpark was very tight so probably would have been better to return our hire car early and not pay for it sitting in the garage for the full stay.
