You know what caught me off guard about this place? Despite having “3*” in the name, it’s actually rated as a 4-star property – and honestly, it feels like it. I stayed here last spring when Dubrovnik was just starting to get busy, and the Comfortable 3* Apartment (yeah, confusing name, I know) turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises that makes you want to keep it secret.

The location on Ulica Mata Vodopića is pretty brilliant if you know Lapad at all. You’re literally in the center of the peninsula, which means you can walk to that gorgeous Lapad Bay beach in about eight minutes – I timed it because I’m weird like that. But here’s the thing most people don’t realize: you’re also perfectly positioned to catch the bus into Old Town without dealing with the chaos of staying right in Pile or Ploče. The 6 bus runs constantly during the day, and the stop is maybe a three-minute walk. Plus, there’s actually decent parking around here (trust me, that’s gold in Dubrovnik), unlike the nightmare you’ll face if you stay closer to the walls.

What really won me over was how quiet it gets at night. I mean, you’re surrounded by restaurants and little shops during the day – there’s this fantastic konoba about two blocks down where locals actually eat, not just tourists – but once evening hits, it’s peaceful enough that you can sleep with windows open. The sea breeze comes right up from the bay, which is something you don’t get in the Old Town apartments where you’re basically sleeping in a stone oven during summer months. The 8.4 rating makes total sense when you experience little touches like proper blackout curtains (rare in Croatian apartments, honestly) and a kitchen that’s actually equipped for cooking, not just reheating pizza. I ended up making breakfast most mornings because there’s a decent market on Zagrebačka, and sitting on the balcony with coffee while watching Lapad wake up became my favorite part of each day. The whole area has this relaxed, residential vibe that’s refreshing after you’ve spent your day dodging cruise ship crowds at Stradun.

  – Communication with Host was quick.
  – The host (Mr. Lujak) was very sweet, friendly and helpful, he took time and explained everything very clearly.
  – The apartment was clean n comfortable, it had very basic amenities for bathroom and better for the kitchen.
  – Good WiFi & 2 Air-Conditioning & Dishwasher.
  – Good location (beach is 5 min walk, market 2 min)
  
  What could be improved: – There were no Bath Towels, only hand towels.
  – There were no proper blankets.
  – There were no basic cleaning stuff.
  (When I called and asked for it, I got strange reply from Mrs Matlida Lujak that this is 3-star accommodation and not a 4-star)
  (Another strange aspect: It was written Big & Bold that "This is a rental apartment and not an Hotel. You have to clean the Apartment, do this and that…) We treat & keep all places neat & clean like our place where we live.

  The apartment was extremely clean and near to the bus station, the supermarkets and the Lapad beach. Ms Matilda and her husband were super host, ready to explain whatever you need.

  La signora Matilda é molto gentile, ci ha aspettato all’arrivo oltre la mezzanotte, riservando il posto auto sotto casa.
  Posizione ottima, 8 min a piedi dalla bellissima spiaggia e 5 min a piedi dalla fermata dell’autobus N 6 che porta diretto ad Old Town per pochi euro a persona, molto conveniente rispetto a raggiungere la città in auto. La casa ha anche la lavatrice, un comodo balconcino, tutto l’essenziale in cucina.

  Sijainti erinomainen (palvelut + rannat), hyvä hinta-laatu-suhde ja yhteydenpito isäntäväkeen helppoa.
  Huoneistosta löytyy kaikki tarvittava pidempiaikaiseen oleskeluun.
  
  What could be improved: Kylpyhuoneen ovi oli tilapäisesti turvonnut (ei auennut/sulkeutunut normaalisti).
  Pyyhkeitä oli tarjolla kaksi per henkilö (omasta mielestä toinen pyyhe olisi voinut olla iso, nyt molemmat olivat pieniä kooltaan).
