I was expecting just another rental property, but this place actually feels like someone’s carefully curated home that they’re letting you borrow for a while. It’s tucked away on Ulica Petra Zoranića in Lapad – and honestly, if you’re not familiar with Dubrovnik, Lapad is where you want to be if you’re planning to stay more than a couple nights. The Old Town is gorgeous, sure, but it’s crawling with cruise ship crowds during the day, and the accommodation prices there will make your wallet weep.

The apartment itself has this really thoughtful design sense – I mean, you can tell someone actually lives in spaces like this, not just threw together some IKEA furniture and called it “designer.” The kitchen has these little touches that matter when you’re staying somewhere for more than a weekend trip, like proper knives that actually cut things and coffee cups that aren’t the size of thimbles. The bedroom gets morning light but isn’t blazing bright at 6 AM, which is perfect because you’ll probably be staying out late exploring the peninsula’s restaurant scene. And speaking of late nights – the street is residential enough that you’re not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling around, but you’re still only about a 15-minute walk to the main Lapad promenade where all the action happens.

What really sold me on this place was the location within Lapad itself. You’re close enough to Uvala Bay that you can grab morning coffee and actually sit by the water without fighting for space, but far enough from the main drag that you feel like you’re living in a real neighborhood. There’s a small market just a few streets over where locals actually shop – not one of those tourist traps with overpriced everything. The bus connections to Old Town are reliable (though honestly, walking along the coastal path is half the fun), and if you’re renting a car, parking in this area doesn’t require a engineering degree like it does closer to the center. I stayed here in late September, which is honestly the sweet spot for Dubrovnik – still warm enough for swimming, but the summer crowds have thinned out considerably. The whole experience felt less like checking into a hotel and more like a friend letting you crash at their really nice place while they’re out of town.
