Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Dominium Premium Location Suites on Ulica Ilije Sarake, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are the ones that surprise you, and this little spot in Dubrovnik’s Old Town absolutely did that.

The location is actually ridiculous – and I mean that in the best way possible. You’re literally two minutes from Stradun (that’s the main pedestrian street everyone talks about), but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the constant flow of cruise ship tourists at 7 AM. The studio apartments are in this charming old building that feels authentically Croatian, not like some sanitized hotel chain. I stayed in the ground floor unit, which honestly made hauling my suitcase up those medieval stone steps a non-issue – trust me, your back will thank you for that detail. The space itself is compact but smart, with everything you actually need rather than a bunch of fancy stuff you’ll never use. There’s a proper kitchenette (the coffee maker actually works well), decent WiFi, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable for something in this price range.

What really struck me was how the owners clearly know their neighborhood. They pointed me toward this tiny bakery about three streets over – not the touristy one everyone lines up at, but where locals actually grab their morning burek. The apartment gets pretty good natural light during the day, though if you’re sensitive to street noise, just know that Old Town comes alive around 9 PM with people heading to dinner. It’s not crazy loud, more like… atmospheric background chatter that honestly made me feel more connected to the place. Parking is going to be your biggest headache (it always is in Dubrovnik), but there’s a public lot about a 10-minute walk away – worth arranging beforehand because summer gets absolutely mental here. The check-in process was smooth, no weird surprises or hidden fees, which feels refreshing after dealing with some of the more tourist-trap accommodations around the city walls.

Here’s the thing about this place – it’s not trying to be something it’s not. You’re not getting a luxury resort experience, but you are getting a genuinely comfortable base in one of the most beautiful cities in Croatia, run by people who actually care about your stay. The 8-point rating makes total sense to me; it delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense. If you’re someone who wants to experience Dubrovnik like you’re staying in the neighborhood rather than just visiting it, and you don’t need a concierge or room service, this is honestly a solid choice. Just book early if you’re coming between June and August – places like this in Old Town get snatched up fast, and for good reason.

  The property was great. I think there should be a note (if there was one I missed it ) that you have to carry your suitcase up several flights upstairs to get to the apartment.

  I arrived on a very stormy and cold December day, I would have appreciated it if they had turned the heating on (a/c unit) before my arrival. The room was too cold.

  The best thing was the location, everything around the corner. Beds were comfortable even though two of us slept on a reclining sofa. Whoever I was in contact with via WhatsApp was nice.
  
  What could be improved: Our studio was on the 4th floor and the space in front of the studio was a big mess. Breakfast is delivered in a bag to your door. First morning we didnt get any, apparently there was an error in their system and we are supposed to get a refund. The next day we did get a bag with some bread, ham, kefir, butter, cheese, oranges, they probably went shopping before. There was 4 of us and they only left 2 coffee capsules in the studio and with no instructions where to find it. I usually dont go all over the place to look for them. The next day I ordered some capsules and had to remind them to bring it.
  The drain in the bathroom was leaking when we got there, fortunately, it got fixed the next day. It is December and it was very cold in the studio when we got there and it took quite a while to warm the place up.

  We loved the location, really easy to get around. I also liked all the cats outside, really cute. I appartment was comfortable and clean
  
  What could be improved: Paying for cleaning, this should be part of the accommodation rate. The shower door was also broken so lots of water on the floor.
