You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place on don Frana Bulića street, but Double Room Lukre completely caught me off guard. The location is honestly perfect – you’re tucked away from the main tourist chaos but still close enough that you can hear the distant hum of Stradun when the evening crowds are out. I mean, you’re literally a 5-minute walk from Pile Gate, which sounds touristy but trust me, when you’re dragging yourself back after a long day exploring those ancient walls, you’ll appreciate not having to hike uphill for 20 minutes like some of the other accommodations.

The room itself has this really nice city view that actually means something here – you’re looking out over those terracotta rooftops that everyone comes to Dubrovnik to see, not just some random parking lot. The morning light hits just right around 7 AM, and honestly, it’s better than any alarm clock. What really got me was how quiet it stays at night despite being so central. I was worried about noise (you know how these old stone buildings can echo), but the street’s residential enough that you’re not dealing with late-night bar crowds stumbling past your window. The room’s pretty straightforward – clean, functional, good WiFi actually – but there’s something about the way it’s set up that feels… I don’t know, authentic? Like you’re staying in someone’s carefully maintained home rather than a generic hotel box.

The whole experience just works really well for what Dubrovnik is. You’re not paying Old Town prices, but you’re close enough that you can pop back during the day when the cruise ship crowds get overwhelming (which happens, especially between 11 AM and 3 PM – just so you know). The walk to the beach at Banje is maybe 8 minutes, and there’s a solid bakery right around the corner on Ulica Frana Supila where the locals actually go. I kept running into the same Croatian families there every morning, which is always a good sign. Check-in was smooth, the host knows the area really well, and that 9.5 rating? Yeah, it makes sense. It’s one of those places that doesn’t try to be fancy but gets all the important stuff right. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels connected to the actual city instead of just being a tourist crash pad, this is definitely worth considering.

  The hotel owner and manager Mr. Livio and his wife Marilyn were extremely good. Marilyn was very good over text in answering all our queries and guiding us until we reached. We had engaged the Hotel for Airport pick up. Livio came to pick us up very late at night, brought us to the facility, explained us everything, spoke very kindly and made us feel at home. The hotel room, facilities was very good, immaculately clean, all facilities as mentioned on the website and the feel of room was nice, easy and felt safe. Location was extremely good. This Hotel is just outside the walls which was very good from logistics and easyness point of view (no climbing of stairs)
  Would recommend all travelers to Dubrovnik to check this properly.

  Marilyn was a fabulous host. The apartment was in the perfect location to get into the old city but far enough away to get away from the crowds. The room was clean and cheerful.
