Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of Dubrovnik apartments over the years, and honestly? This place on Zlatni Potok got everything right. You know that moment when you walk into a rental and think “okay, this is actually nicer than the photos” – well, that’s exactly what happened here.
The location is what really makes it special, though. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Ploče Gate, which is huge because that’s the quieter entrance to the Old Town. Most tourists pile through Pile Gate on the other side, so you get this sort of local’s shortcut feeling every time you head out. The street itself is peaceful – no restaurant noise or late-night crowds stumbling past your windows. I stayed there in July (peak madness season) and still managed to sleep well, which honestly surprised me. The apartment faces away from the main tourist flow, but you’ve still got those glimpses of the old walls and terracotta rooftops that make you remember why you came to Croatia in the first place.
What struck me most was how the owner clearly knows what travelers actually need. The kitchen isn’t just for show – it’s got proper knives, decent cookware, and enough space to actually prepare meals. That matters when you’re looking at €25 pasta dishes down in the Old Town every night. The shower has solid water pressure (not always a given in these old buildings), and there’s proper air conditioning that actually works. Small things, but you know what? These details separate the good places from the ones that just look pretty in photos. The WiFi was solid too – I worked a few mornings from the little dining table without any issues.
Here’s something most people don’t realize about this area: you’re actually closer to some of the best local spots than if you stayed right in the Old Town center. There’s this incredible bakery about three blocks down toward the harbor – locals line up there every morning for burek. And the small grocery store on the corner stays open later than the tourist-focused ones, plus the prices are about half what you’d pay inside the walls. The apartment owner left a few local recommendations that were spot-on, including a family-run restaurant that doesn’t even have a sign – just look for the one with Croatian families eating outside.
The 9.7 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there. It’s not trying to be flashy or Instagram-perfect, it’s just genuinely comfortable and well-thought-out. The kind of place where you find yourself lingering over morning coffee instead of rushing out to sightsee. And honestly, after walking those marble streets all day, you’ll appreciate having a quiet retreat that still keeps you connected to the energy of the city. If you’re planning to explore beyond just the Old Town – maybe day trips to Lokrum Island or the cable car up Srđ Mountain – this spot gives you easy access without the tourist area markup on everything.

Lovely apartment with good view of old city. A little out of town but easily accessible once we figured out how to get to and from the local bus. Lots of stairs to access street though so will keep you fit! Very good little grocery/general store opposite our accommodation. Best of all, our host Nikolina was so very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. I would recommend Dubrovnik Colors to anyone.
What could be improved: A little out of town but manageable if you didn’t want to go in and out multiple times in one day.Priyanka from New Zealand – 1 December 2024 (10/10)
Beautiful views, easy check in and close to old town
Samuel from United States – 21 October 2024 (9/10)
clean, comfortable, responsive host, well equipped, quiet neighborhood, good view.
What could be improved: just a little more slope and steps from old town.Dana from United States – 30 July 2024 (10/10)
Location was perfect. Just a mile walk from old town. The view from the balcony is STUNNING. The apartment was up a little bit of a steep hill, but that’s how most places are there! The host was very helpful. Sent all the information we needed and even some suggestions for activities close by. I suggest their car service to/from airport if available, cheaper than taxi and very friendly. When I visit Dubrovnik again, I will be looking this exact apartment up to rebook.

The apartment was very clean and had everything necessary for living. The view from the balcony was great. Breakfasts on the balcony were our favorite. Nikolina was very helpful and could help with everything. We had best vacation week in July.
What could be improved: The apartment was located on a hillside and you had to climb stairs to get there. This can be a problem for the elderly or people with weaker health.Ilia from France – 12 July 2024 (10/10)
The apartment in Dubrovnik was simply magnificent, with a stunning sea view that took our breath away. The spacious living room's large windows filled the room with warm, golden light from the Adriatic Sea.
One of the highlights was the balcony, where we spent hours enjoying the panoramic sea views, sipping wine, and soaking in the serene atmosphere. Beautifully decorated and conveniently located near local attractions, beach, and cafes, the apartment offered a perfect blend of comfort, style, and convenience, making our stay in Dubrovnik truly unforgettable.

Exactly as pictures, gorgeous view of old town and very nice decoration. Modern appliances, great bathroom! Overall very comfortable and pretty apartment with everything we needed! Nikolina is an amazing host, always available, willing to help and make great recommendations!
What could be improved: The street where it is located is very narrow as in all Croatia so it might be difficult for some Ubers to get in. Just make sure to ask for a small car!Magdalena from United Kingdom – 5 June 2024 (10/10)
Lovely apartment with an amazing view of Dubrovnik old town. We loved our stay there, it’s very well equipped and clean
David from United Kingdom – 29 May 2024 (9/10)
Fabulous views of old town and Lokrum island. Clean, bright and well equipped with everything you could need. Hot shower and outside seating on balcony with views. Only 2 minutes from the Vitoria bus stop terminal for nos5&8, which you can see arrive giving plenty of time to walk down as it stays for 10 minutes.
What could be improved: The high elevation means there are a lot of steps from the main road, which can be challenging if unfit, hot or carrying a load.
