Hotel Description

You know what hit me first about this place? The view from the windows actually delivers on that “Old Town View” promise – and I mean really delivers. From apartment No3 on Zlatni Potok street, you’re looking straight across at those iconic terracotta rooftops and ancient stone walls that make Dubrovnik so ridiculously photogenic. The morning light hitting those limestone buildings is honestly something else, especially if you’re an early riser with your coffee.

The location is pretty brilliant, actually. You’re in Ploce, which puts you close enough to walk into the Old Town in maybe 8-10 minutes (downhill, thankfully), but far enough away that you escape the cruise ship crowds that absolutely swarm the main tourist areas during peak season. I mean, Dubrovnik can get seriously packed – we’re talking shoulder-to-shoulder madness in July and August – so having this little retreat where you can actually breathe is worth its weight in gold. The street itself is quiet, mostly residential, and you’ll hear church bells from the Old Town rather than the constant chatter of tour groups.

What I really appreciated was how the apartment feels like someone’s actual home rather than a sterile hotel room. There’s character here – the kind of thoughtful touches that suggest the owners actually care about the space. The furnishings work well together, nothing fancy but comfortable, and the kitchen is properly equipped if you want to grab some fresh seafood from the morning market near the harbor and cook it yourself (which, honestly, I’d recommend doing at least once). The bathroom’s modern and the shower has decent pressure, which isn’t always a given in older Croatian buildings.

One thing to note – and this isn’t really a complaint, just reality – you’ll be doing some walking on slopes and stairs. Dubrovnik is built on hills, and while the location is convenient, you’re not exactly on flat ground. My legs definitely felt it after a few days of exploring, but that’s just part of the Dubrovnik experience. Also, parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving, though that’s true pretty much anywhere in the city center area.

The 9.6 rating makes total sense to me. It’s not a luxury resort, but it’s exactly what you want from a well-run apartment rental – clean, comfortable, authentic, and positioned so you can actually experience the city like a temporary local rather than just another tourist passing through. The value is solid too, especially considering you’re getting that view and location without paying Old Town prices. I’d definitely stay here again, particularly during the busier months when having a peaceful base becomes even more valuable.

When you happen to be in the Old Town after sunset, you will notice birds tucking themselves comfortably into the man-made holes high in the wall. Those shelters provide them with safety from omnipresent cats and serve as cozy nests. The same could be applied to the description of Dubrovnik Colors Apartments – high enough to provide a thousands euro seaside view and but accessible enough to keep your breath when ascending; safe, luminious, modernly equipped with necessities, quite and insulated from the noise of overtourism 12 minutes away. You can leisurely walk to down town or take Bus 8 nearby. Save yourselves on guide books – you will find Rick Steven's Croatia 7th Edition and Eyewitness Travel Guide under TV (that one equipped with Netflix and Amazon Prime). Two sunlit balconies with sea exposures, competing for the best view. Hospitable landlords, always available at the distance of a what's up message. So if you are on their booking page, do not overthink – this is your award, your choice, your ultimate luck. Go ahead while it is still available. P.S. If the luggage storage for the departure day is on your mind, discuss options with a landlord in advance.

The property is in a prime location overlooking the Adriatic Sea. Just a few minutes walk and you are to the main town/city of Dubrovnik, the beach is just a couple of minutes walk from the property. The view of the Dubrovnik town centre at night from the balcony is stunning The property is situated in an optimal location, providing a panoramic view of the Adriatic Sea. Within a short walking distance, you will find the bustling town of Dubrovnik, while the beach is conveniently accessible within a few minutes. The evening view of Dubrovnik’s town center from the balcony is truly captivating. The property is well-maintained and clean. The linens provided is clean and I’m profoundly happy choosing this property. I would highly this property to all.

We had a wonderful stay here. The apartment was lovely, extremely clean and had all the necessary amenities. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The best part of the apartment though was the view. It really is gorgeous. We watched the sunrise and sunset almost every day. The host was very accommodating, letting us keep our luggage on the property so we could explore a bit more before our flight home. Would recommend!

What could be improved: The apartment is on the small side, so really only good for two people. The balcony makes up for it, giving natural light to the entire room. The only other thing is the walk to old town is a bit long, but a beautiful walk if you can muster up the stamina. There is a bus as well which the station for is 5 minutes from the apartment walking.

Great apartment with clear views to Dubrovnik old town and daily sunsets. We stayed for 4 nights which was perfect.

What could be improved: Nothing. Some may consider the location to be too far from town , however we love to walk and the extra distance of 1.0k contributed nicely to our daily step count!

My wife and I sold our home, furnishings, and cars in the USA and travel the world full-time. Therefore, we are very particular with the lodgings we book throughout the world. They must offer all (or most) of the conveniences of a home because during our stay, the lodging is our home.

We LOVED everything about Dubrovnik Colors! Beginning with the host, Nickolina. Nickolina was very proactive in messaging us prior to our arrival. And any time we contacted Nickolina, she would reply within minutes. And she made arrangements to have a car pick us up at the airport when we arrived and transport us to the property.

With respect to the property, first is the MILLION dollar view from the balcony!! The apartment has TWO balconies; one with a very comfortable swinging chair overlooking the Adriatic Sea. And the second balcony on the side with equally fantastic views! The apartment has a washing machine which we were very pleased with. The apartment is perched on the side of the mountain in a neighborhood with breath-taking views of Old Town Dubrovnik, the island of Lokrum, and the Adriatic Sea. The apartment itself was VERY bright and and had all the amenities we would ask for: small kitchenette with all the appliances we needed to cook at home, TV with streaming services such as Netflix, and VERY comfortable bed. The apartment and area was very quiet.

We would DEFINITELY stay at Dubrovnik Colors again in the future. Thank you, Nickolina, for your gracious Croatian hospitality!

    What could be improved: Nothing!

  • Traveller_276 from India – 20 May 2023 (10/10)

The view from the room was truly exceptional and gave a vantage view of Lokrum Island and the Old Town and was our favourite thing about our room! Our host was very responsive and helpful and even left us delicious home made liquor along with sweets when we arrived. The room was overall well stocked.

  • Kevin from Spain – 6 April 2023 (10/10)

Absolutely everything about this apartment was perfect! Where to start…. the views from the two terraces are breathtaking, the apartment is modern and spotlessly clean, the bed is extremely comfortable, the shower is wonderful, everything is provided that you might ever need, the location is fantastic (just a 15-minute stroll along the coast to the old town), and Nikolina is the perfect host! I've never stayed in such a good apartment and for such good value for money. Outstanding!

What could be improved: Having to leave!
