You know what caught me off guard about Dubrovnik Tranquil? The name actually fits – and I mean that in the best way possible. I’ve stayed at plenty of places that promise peace and quiet then stick you next to a construction site, but this little gem on Ulica Petra Hektorovića really delivers on that front.

The location is honestly perfect if you’re trying to avoid the absolute chaos of Old Town while still being close enough to matter. Lapad peninsula has this wonderful residential feel – you’re walking past actual Croatian families hanging laundry and kids playing in small courtyards, not just endless souvenir shops. It’s maybe a 15-minute bus ride to the city walls (the buses run constantly), but here’s the thing locals know: you can actually walk to some gorgeous swimming spots along the coast that most tourists never find. The apartment itself sits on the first floor of what feels like a traditional Croatian house, and honestly, the 9.5 rating makes sense once you settle in. Everything just… works. The air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine, the wifi actually reaches the bedroom, and whoever runs this place clearly understands that travelers want a real refrigerator, not some tiny minibar situation.

What really won me over was how quiet it gets at night – I mean genuinely quiet, not just “quiet for a tourist area.” You’ll hear the occasional car on the street below, maybe some distant conversation from neighbors, but it’s the kind of ambient sound that actually helps you sleep. The morning light comes in soft through these gauze curtains, and honestly, waking up there felt more like staying at a friend’s place than a hotel. The kitchen setup is simple but thoughtful – they’ve got proper plates and glasses, not plastic tourist stuff, and there’s this little balcony where you can have coffee and watch the neighborhood wake up. I kept thinking how different this felt from those massive resort complexes down the coast where you’re basically trapped in a tourist bubble. Here, you’re actually in Croatia, if that makes sense. The walk to the nearest konoba (that’s a traditional restaurant, by the way) takes about three minutes, and the woman who runs the little grocery store down the street started recognizing me by day two.

Sure, it’s not fancy – we’re talking 3-star accommodation here – but sometimes that’s exactly what you want. The shower pressure is solid, the bed doesn’t creak, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the whole place smells right – like clean laundry and sea air, not that artificial hotel room scent. If you’re the type who wants to experience Dubrovnik without feeling like you’re living in a postcard, this is your spot.

  great place to stay in Dubrovnik. We managed to find free parking in the street next to the apartment all the time which is short of miracle in this city. Old city is 25min walk away and we really liked to see the city this way (…and you cover most of the city sights). Apartment is really spacious, fully equipped and has this beautiful balcony (not that narrow one where you squeeze two people but a real one 🙂 Our hosts were very accommodating and kind.

  Apartamentul e spatios,foarte curat, foarte bine dotat, decorat astfel incat da te simti ca acasa, patul a fost foarte confortabil, am gasit parcare gratuita pe strada chiar in fata proprietatii si este si petfriendly. Am gasit chiar si harti si pliante cu obiectivele turistice din oras. Gazda a fost foarte amabila si ne-a ajutat cu toate informatiile de care aveam nevoie, in special cele legate de calatoria cu un caine.

  El departamento es hermoso!! Luminoso, amplio, cómodo, moderno, todo lo que uno desea en sus vacaciones. Alma nos dejó para nuestra bienvenida dulces, frutos secos, frutas…una montaña de detalles bellos. El barrio súper tranquilo y seguro. Hay supermercados y tiendas a pocos metros. Las habitaciones grandes, todo super limpio. Un placer haber estado alojados allí. Lo recomiendo 100%
