You know what struck me first about Green Holiday? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street in Lapad – Iva Vojnovića 47 – which honestly made me wonder if my taxi driver got lost. But that’s actually the beauty of it. While everyone’s cramming into Old Town accommodations, you’re in this peaceful neighborhood where locals actually live, and it’s maybe a 15-minute walk to Lapad Bay’s pebble beaches.

The hotel itself is refreshingly unpretentious for a place with a 9.2 rating. I mean, it’s three stars and feels like three stars, but in the best possible way – no marble lobbies or doormen in fancy uniforms, just clean, comfortable rooms with that slightly old-school Croatian hospitality that feels genuine. The staff actually remembers your name after day two, which is… well, it’s nice when travel doesn’t feel so transactional. My room faced the back, so mornings were blissfully quiet – none of that early morning Dubrovnik tourist bus rumble you get closer to the city walls. The AC worked perfectly too, which honestly matters more than fancy toiletries when you’re dealing with those sticky July afternoons.

What really won me over was the location’s practicality. There’s a Konzum supermarket literally two minutes away (trust me, you’ll want to grab some of those Croatian cookies), and the bus stop for the city center is right there when you don’t feel like walking. But here’s the thing – Lapad has this lovely seaside promenade that most tourists completely miss. I’d grab coffee from the little café downstairs and walk along the water before the crowds hit Dubrovnik proper. The hotel’s neighborhood feels like actual Croatia, not just the Instagram version. You’ll hear kids playing in the courtyard next door, smell someone’s dinner cooking, see elderly locals sitting on benches chatting – it’s that authentic slice of life that’s getting harder to find in popular destinations. Sure, it’s not fancy, and the elevator makes this charming creaking sound, but sometimes the best travel experiences happen in places that aren’t trying too hard to impress you.

  Location , outdoor area , owners are lovely people.
  
  What could be improved: I would've loved to have a mop and maybe a better pillow – that's just me … It took me over 6 years to find a pillow that I find comfy … and I've a long beard , hair etc. mop comes in handy for the floors after I use the hairdryer … oh and maybe a light under the cabinets , above the kitchen sink – again I'm nitpicking , the place is amazing really!

  The apartment was great

  A good sized comfortable apartment, ( fine for 2 people possibly a bit snug for 3) It was light and airy and additional bits like local maps and info were welcomed.
  The apartment was very clean, had compact bathroom with good sized shower, with toiletries were supplied, well equipped with a fridge, washing machine, cooker, kettle
  Instructions from the host were good.
  Nice outdoor sitting area at the back and a small balcony at the front
  
  What could be improved: The location is a 5min in bus ride away ( the bus stop is just outside the main gate) or a 20 min walk from the old town, this was not an issue as its position is very central for other areas such as the port, and Babin Kuk.
  However, the road was quite noisy in the evenings and at night.
  When we were there I couldn't find the A/C control ( to be fair I did not contact the host ) as it was warm at night and we couldn't leave windows open due to the mosquitoes. But there was a fan in the apartment.
  The decoration was a bit tired in places ( but it was the end of the season) but other than that it was very tidy and clean

  The host was great. The location was perfect . bustop right outside of the apartment. Apartment fully fitted out even had a washing machine so we were able to do our washing. Highly recommend apartment.
