The hotel itself is refreshingly unpretentious for a place with a 9.2 rating. I mean, it’s three stars and feels like three stars, but in the best possible way – no marble lobbies or doormen in fancy uniforms, just clean, comfortable rooms with that slightly old-school Croatian hospitality that feels genuine. The staff actually remembers your name after day two, which is… well, it’s nice when travel doesn’t feel so transactional. My room faced the back, so mornings were blissfully quiet – none of that early morning Dubrovnik tourist bus rumble you get closer to the city walls. The AC worked perfectly too, which honestly matters more than fancy toiletries when you’re dealing with those sticky July afternoons.

What really won me over was the location’s practicality. There’s a Konzum supermarket literally two minutes away (trust me, you’ll want to grab some of those Croatian cookies), and the bus stop for the city center is right there when you don’t feel like walking. But here’s the thing – Lapad has this lovely seaside promenade that most tourists completely miss. I’d grab coffee from the little café downstairs and walk along the water before the crowds hit Dubrovnik proper. The hotel’s neighborhood feels like actual Croatia, not just the Instagram version. You’ll hear kids playing in the courtyard next door, smell someone’s dinner cooking, see elderly locals sitting on benches chatting – it’s that authentic slice of life that’s getting harder to find in popular destinations. Sure, it’s not fancy, and the elevator makes this charming creaking sound, but sometimes the best travel experiences happen in places that aren’t trying too hard to impress you.
