Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places around Dubrovnik, and Guest House Kono honestly surprised me in the best way. When I first walked into this two-bedroom apartment on Marka Gjaje Street, I wasn’t expecting much – I mean, it’s a 3-star place, right? But that sea view from the balcony? Absolutely stunning. You’re looking out over the Adriatic, and on clear mornings (which, let’s be honest, are most mornings in Dubrovnik), you can see the islands dotting the horizon. The balcony itself isn’t huge, but it’s the perfect size for morning coffee or evening wine – actually, I found myself eating breakfast out there every single day.
What really got me was how the owner, Kono, has thought about the little things that actually matter when you’re traveling. The kitchen is properly equipped – not just a mini-fridge and microwave situation, but actual cookware if you want to grab some fresh seafood from the market near Pile Gate. The bedrooms are comfortable, nothing fancy but clean and quiet, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed in the Old Town where you hear every tourist group at 6 AM. Speaking of location, you’re about a 15-minute walk to the city walls, which means you avoid the cruise ship crowds but you’re still close enough to wander over for sunset drinks at one of the cliffside bars. Parking was surprisingly easy too – there’s street parking right there, and during shoulder season (May or September, highly recommend), you’ll find spots without the usual Dubrovnik parking nightmare.
The place has this lived-in feel that I really appreciated – you know what I mean? It’s not sterile like some of those new apartment complexes, but it’s not worn down either. The shower has proper water pressure, the Wi-Fi actually works throughout the apartment, and there’s air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing. Honestly, the 10 rating makes sense when you consider what you’re getting for the price point. I stayed during late June, and while the area gets busier in peak summer, the street itself stays relatively peaceful. You’re close enough to walk to Banje Beach in about 20 minutes, or if you’re feeling adventurous, the cable car station is maybe 25 minutes on foot. The only minor thing – and I’m really reaching here – is that the balcony furniture could use an update, but when you’re looking at that view, you sort of forget about everything else anyway.

Exceptional – Edit from Hungary – 28 June 2025 (10/10)
A kilátás valami csodás a teraszról. Az apartman nagyon jól felszerelt, az ágyak hatalmasak és nagyon kényelmesek.
What could be improved: A hálószobákat éjszakára a nappaliban lévő légkondi nehezen hűti le.Exceptional – Evert from Netherlands – 21 April 2025 (10/10)
What could be improved: Niets. Enige was dat we hadden begrepen dat er 1 kamer was met drie 1 persoonsbedden. Maar dat was 1 1 persoons en 1 2 persoons.
