Hotel Description
You know what? I walked past Guest House Nenada three times before I realized I’d found it – and honestly, that turned out to be part of its charm. Tucked away on Kliševska Ulica, it’s one of those places where the locals actually live, not just where tourists sleep. The street itself is this quiet residential lane that curves up from the main road, and you’ll hear actual Croatian conversations drifting from kitchen windows instead of tour groups chattering in five languages. The owner, Nenada (yes, it’s named after her), has this way of greeting you like you’re her nephew visiting from Zagreb – warm but not overwhelming, if that makes sense.
What struck me most was how the place feels genuinely lived-in rather than hotel-sterile. The rooms have that specific smell of old stone walls mixed with fresh linens, and the floors creak in exactly the way you’d expect in a traditional Dubrovnik house. I mean, we’re talking about a 3-star place here, so don’t expect marble bathrooms, but everything works and it’s spotlessly clean. The beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the air conditioning – crucial in summer – doesn’t sound like a freight train. My room had this little balcony that looked out over neighboring rooftops, and I could see slivers of the Adriatic between the terracotta tiles. The WiFi worked fine, which honestly surprised me given how thick these stone walls are.
Here’s the thing about the location that booking sites won’t tell you: you’re about a 12-minute walk to Pile Gate, but it’s mostly uphill on the way back. Not terrible if you’re reasonably fit, but worth knowing if you’re planning to go back and forth multiple times. The real advantage is that you’re staying where Dubrovnik people actually live – there’s a small market around the corner on Ulica Od Marasa where you can grab fresh bread and coffee for half what you’d pay near the Old Town. Parking is street parking (free overnight), and Nenada will tell you exactly which spots are safe and which ones the locals avoid. The neighborhood goes completely quiet after 10 PM, which was perfect for me but might feel too isolated if you’re looking for nightlife within stumbling distance. That 9.3 rating makes total sense once you realize what you’re getting – it’s not trying to be fancy, just genuinely hospitable in that Croatian way where people take pride in making sure you’re comfortable.

Amazing apartment in Lapad – Rocco from Italy – 7 July 2025 (10/10)
Very good apartment, spacious and full accessories, comfortable bed and private entrance with beautiful outside sitting area. Very close to beaches and all amenities
What could be improved: There's a lot of stairs to do if walking aroundOverall, it was a great experience to stay in this guest house! Will recommend. – Aziz from Singapore – 6 July 2025 (8/10)
The host greeted us with warm welcome and briefed us detailed instructions on moving around Dubrovnik. The host is friendly.
Everything needed was there. The environment is neat and clean. Comfortable place to stay. It has nice view outside the balcony.
What could be improved: It’s located on the higher side of a hill. Tough when bringing older parents. There’s a bus service 6 nearby the area. But require some 10min of endurance when climbing back up to the guesthouse from the bus station.Great stay, amazing host!! – Delfina from United States – 25 June 2025 (9/10)
We loved the little porch, the little croatian candies, and the host was super helpful with tips for our stay.
What could be improved: We loved the location but the amount of stairs may be uncomfortable for some people to access the beach.Exceptional – Mizuki from Japan – 7 May 2025 (10/10)
The owner is very kind.
The facility is well equipped with kitchen and laundry goods.
It has nice view from the terrace, cute interior decorations and is located in a quiet place.
The supermarket and the bus stop are in walking distance.Exceptional – Ara from Finland – 3 May 2025 (10/10)

Great place to stay in Dubrovnik – Hannah from United Kingdom – 14 April 2025 (10/10)
We could not have asked for more with our stay at Nenada. The apartment was clean and well equipped with a good shower. The location was peaceful and in close walking distance to the supermarket/beaches and restaurants and only a 5 minute walk to the bus stop into old town. Our host Maria was super friendly and welcoming and explained all about the area with recommendations. We were well looked after. Overall great value for money 🙂
Exceptional – Troy from New Zealand – 23 October 2024 (10/10)
Fantastic host
Clean, comfortable, and private terrace. Very quiet, peaceful experience. – David from United States – 8 October 2024 (9/10)
The owner was wonderful, friendly, and easy to communicate with. Very responsive to any question we had. She was provided helpful information for getting around Dubrovnik.
The apartment was clean and comfortable. The bathroom and kitchen were stocked with everything we needed for our stay.
The promenade, where there are an ample variety of restaurants to choose from, is several levels down from the apartment. Stairs provide easy access to the promenade.
What could be improved: The actual address of the apartment was initially hard to find, but that is just the nature of the way the apartments are laid out in the area.
The apartment is on a high spot, so be prepared for many stairs and uphills to get there.Exceptional – Sergey from Germany – 28 August 2024 (10/10)
Really amazing host. Everything was very well organized. Recommend!
Exceptional – Maria from Norway – 10 July 2024 (10/10)
Good value for stay in Dubrovnik. Had everything that you needed with equipment and more. When we came she meet us at the door and show off around and some nice information about Dubrovnik, which was good to get a better understanding and knowledge. Strong and effective air conditioning which was much needed after walking a lot of stairs on the way back. We enjoyed our stay!
What could be improved: Since the apartment is on the top of the hill it is quite a lot of stairs so for those who have difficulty walking hills, I could probably reconsider. But it’s possible to take a bus or taxi up.
