Gugilly Old Town Haven

So I've stayed at the Gugilly Old Town Haven a few times now, and honestly?

So I’ve stayed at the Gugilly Old Town Haven a few times now, and honestly? It’s one of those places that grows on you. The location on Ulica Između vrta is actually pretty brilliant – you’re tucked away from the main tourist stampede on Stradun, but still close enough that you can stumble back to your room after a late dinner without getting lost in those maze-like Old Town streets.

The thing about this place is that it feels authentically Dubrovnik, if that makes sense. You know how some hotels try too hard to be boutique-y? This one just… is. The stone walls are genuine (obviously, since everything in the Old Town is), and there’s this lovely courtyard area where you can actually hear the morning birds instead of just cruise ship announcements. The rooms are solid – not Instagram-perfect, but comfortable with good air conditioning, which trust me, you’ll need in July and August. I mean, the rating’s 7.1 out of 10, so it’s not trying to be the Ritz, but for a 4-star in the Old Town, it delivers what you’d expect.

What I really appreciate is how the staff actually knows the neighborhood. The guy at reception – I think his name was Marko – told me about this little konoba (that’s a traditional tavern) just two streets over that I never would have found otherwise. And here’s something practical: they’ll sort out your luggage transport from Pile Gate, because dragging suitcases over those polished limestone streets is basically impossible. The walk from the main entrance is maybe three minutes, but those stones get slippery when it’s crowded and people are wearing flip-flops. Also, fair warning – you’ll hear the church bells from St. Blaise pretty clearly in the morning, but honestly, it’s kind of charming after the first day. The rooms facing the courtyard are quieter if you’re a light sleeper, though you might miss some of the rooftop views. One thing that surprised me was how cool it stays even in peak summer – those thick stone walls are like natural air conditioning during the day. Sure, you’re paying Old Town prices, but you’re literally sleeping inside a UNESCO World Heritage site, and there’s something pretty magical about stepping out your hotel door directly into those ancient streets at sunrise, before the day-trippers arrive.

This place was all about the location but apartment was basic!! The location was amazing … walking distance to the old town (50 meters or so). Loved the views from the bedroom windows.

What could be improved: Was very basic accommodation. Apartment was very small and cramped. We had 3 couples stay in this 3 bedroom and was very crowded. Towels were very worn and not great, no bath mat supplied. Pillows were not good. Had to be careful not to hit your head in the bedrooms and lounge room/kitchen area because of the low ceilings. Lavender theme very excessive. But have to say we only stayed for one night so was fine because of the amazing location.

We had a great time. Access was easy and location was great. The place is quirky but has all the facilities, two bathrooms, three bedrooms, and is as well located as it is possible to be. Short walks to bars, restaurants and the old town - literally two minutes walk - perfect.

What could be improved: Nothing

Perfect location for a short stay Three good size rooms with aircon and only a 2 minute walk from Pile Gate so very close to the Old Town.

What could be improved: Low ceilings so if you’re tall (my sons are over 6’3”) you could be banging your head a fair amount!

Pleasant La posizione vicinissima alla Porta Pile, ma subito al di fuori della cinta muraria. L'arredamento e la vista.

What could be improved: Staff poco cordiale. Difficoltà di contatto per entrare nell'appartamento. Inoltre a mezzanotte passata la proprietaria si è presentata a fare casino con gli ospiti dell'appartamento al piano di sotto.
Il prezzo è alto, ma Dubrovnik è costosa.

Very comfortable stay in a great location! The location of the property was very central and the AC was absolutely much needed (and very effective). As you can see from the photos, the purple theme is very prominent!

What could be improved: Nothing!

Uroczy apartament świetnej lokalizacji Lokalizacja jest perfekcyjna! 3min pieszo do sklepów, do głównej bramy starówki, wszędzie blisko.

What could be improved: - klucz do toalety
- dodatkowy klucz wejściowy/możliwość skorzystania ze skrytki na klucze gdy jest się grupą jeden klucz jest kłopotliwy

Perfect location. It was an excellent location. Plenty of space and very quiet at night. I would definitely stay here again.

What could be improved: The stairs could be narrow for someone that has trouble walking.
