You know what caught me off guard about this place? The name is honestly a bit of a mess – HappY DubrOvniK CentrE-Free parkinG sounds like someone got a little creative with the caps lock – but don’t let that fool you. I mean, once you’re actually there on Antuna Mihanovića street, you realize they just wanted to make sure you knew about the parking situation upfront, which, honestly, is pretty smart in Dubrovnik.

The location is actually perfect if you want to be close to the Old Town without dealing with the tourist chaos right outside your window. You’re maybe a 10-minute walk from Pile Gate, but far enough away that you can actually sleep at night without hearing drunk cruise ship passengers stumbling around at 2 AM. The street itself is quiet – mostly locals heading to work or the small grocery store around the corner. And that free parking they mention in the name? It’s legit, which is huge because finding parking in Dubrovnik can cost you like 20 euros a day otherwise.

The hotel itself feels more like a really well-run guesthouse than some corporate chain place. The rooms are clean and modern enough – they’ve clearly renovated recently because everything feels fresh, not like that tired Mediterranean hotel vibe you get sometimes. The staff actually knows the neighborhood, too. When I asked about good places to eat that weren’t tourist traps, the guy at reception sent me to this little konoba about three blocks away where I had the best black risotto of my life. You won’t find that kind of local knowledge at the big hotels down by the harbor.

What I really appreciated was how they handle the practical stuff. Check-in was smooth, the Wi-Fi actually works throughout the building, and the rooms stay cool even during those brutal July afternoons when the sun just beats down on the city. The bathrooms are small but functional – I mean, this is Europe, so you’re not getting a massive American-style bathroom, but there’s good water pressure and it’s all clean. One thing though – if you’re on the street-facing side, you might hear some early morning delivery trucks, but it’s nothing compared to what you’d deal with closer to the main tourist areas.

The 8.4 rating makes sense to me because this place just does what it’s supposed to do really well. It’s not trying to be fancy or Instagram-perfect, but you’ll be comfortable, you’ll save money on parking, and you’ll actually feel like you’re staying in a real neighborhood instead of some tourist bubble. Plus, when you want to explore the Old Town, you just walk down the hill and you’re there. When you want to escape the crowds, you walk back up and suddenly you’re in residential Dubrovnik where people are hanging laundry and kids are playing in the streets.

  Happy Studio is a charming and very clean and tidy place. Its location is great – walking distance from the old town of Dubrovnik and close to public transport stops if walking up the many steps of Dubrovnik is not for you. The host Tiho is super helpful and friendly and very easy to get in touch with. We would definitely go back! Highly recommend!

  It’s a ten minute walk from the city centre. It was clean and it was located in a safe and private area. The owner was really kind and offered advice on what to do during our stay.

  Functional bedroom, small kitchen and bathroom. Ar can be parked in front in small, narrow dead-end street. Surprisingly comfortable sleep. About 15 minutes rather easy walk to historic centre.
