You know what struck me first about Hidden Gem Old Town? The name actually fits – and that’s rare these days. Tucked away on Lucarica street, this little three-star feels like stumbling onto something the guidebooks haven’t ruined yet. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Pile Gate, but somehow you’ve escaped into this quieter corner where the stone walls seem to breathe a bit easier. The building itself has that weathered Dubrovnik charm – you can tell it’s been here long enough to have stories, with those thick limestone walls that keep things surprisingly cool even when the afternoon sun is beating down on the Old Town’s main drags.

What really won me over was how the staff actually knows the neighborhood. Not in that scripted concierge way, but like… they live here. The woman at reception told me the best time to hit the city walls (early morning, before the cruise ship crowds), and more importantly, she steered me toward this tiny konoba down a side alley that I never would’ve found otherwise. The rooms are honestly what you’d expect from a solid three-star – clean, comfortable beds, decent shower pressure (which matters after climbing those wall stairs), and windows that open to let in the evening breeze. Nothing fancy, but there’s this authentic feel to the whole place. The floors creak just enough to remind you you’re in a centuries-old building, but not so much that you’re wondering about structural integrity.

Here’s the thing about staying right in the Old Town – it’s a trade-off. Yes, you’ll hear some late-night chatter from the streets below, especially during summer when everyone’s wandering around until midnight. But honestly? I’d rather deal with that than schlep back from Lapad or Babin Kuk after dinner. You’re right there when the Old Town settles into its evening rhythm, when the day-trippers have cleared out and locals start emerging from wherever they hide during the tourist hours. The location on Lucarica puts you close enough to everything that matters – Stradun, the cathedral, those Instagram-worthy alleyways – but just far enough off the main thoroughfare that you’re not drowning in the constant stream of tour groups. Parking is… well, it’s Dubrovnik Old Town, so forget about that. But the bus connections are solid, and honestly, once you’re inside those walls, everything’s walkable anyway. For what you’re paying and what you’re getting – that authentic Old Town experience without the boutique hotel price tag – it’s pretty hard to argue with an 8.3 rating.

  Outstanding location. Right in the middle of the old town. Very quiet, despite being above a restaurant. Very good quality bed, shower, kitchen. Easy checkin with very good communication.
  
  What could be improved: A fair bit of effort has been put into the courtyard area but we didn't use it, primarily because of the smell and noise from the restaurants kitchen exhaust fan, although the external noise and smell didn't make their way inside.

  The location was great, right in the centre of Dubrovnik Old Town. The apartment was small, but quite enough was my daughter and I. The kitchen was sufficiently equipped. We would definitely stay there again

  The host was really lovely in meeting me and particularly helpful in providing in writing, recommendations of things to do, places to see and eateries. Was very welcoming. The apartment was clean, spacious and bed was comfortable. No noise issues. Location was in flat land which can be rare in the Old Town with easy access to main street, shops, restaurants and port.

  L’emplacement est parfait, près de tout. L’appartement se trouve dans la partie plate de la vieille ville, donc d’escalier à monter. Dominik est très accueillant. Merci beaucoup.

  たとえ旧市街の中に位置していても、ピレ門から遠いと、車が入れない旧市街の中をスーツケースをひっぱって歩いていくことになるが、ここは空港からのシャトルバスが最初に到着するピレ門から、歩いて５，６分という好位置。しかも、メインストリートから非常に近いが、一つ奥まったところに位置するせいで、喧噪からも離れられる。さらに坂と階段が多いドブロブニクでは、奇跡的ともいえる階段をのぼることなしに行ける物件。これらだけでもこの部屋を選ぶ価値大。
  オーナーのレスポンスは良好。
  
  What could be improved: コーヒーメーカーが壊れていて使えなかった、部屋の中にある電源コンセントの半分が使えなかった、またUSBのアウトレットが使えなかった。
  総じて電気関係が結構ダメで、不便。
