Air conditioning works well too, which matters more than you might think during those sweltering August afternoons.

Here’s the thing about staying here – you’re trading the “roll out of bed into a UNESCO site” convenience for a more authentic Croatian experience, and whether that’s worth it depends on what you’re after. The beach situation is solid (Lapad Bay is maybe a 10-minute walk), the restaurants nearby serve food that locals eat rather than tourist-menu nonsense, and you’ll save money on everything from coffee to dinner. The 7.7 rating makes sense to me – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it gets the fundamentals right without any major disappointments. Parking can be a bit tricky during peak season, but the front desk usually has decent suggestions.
