Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Kate’s Place? It’s actually tucked away in this quiet residential pocket of Lapad where you can hear the morning coffee brewing from neighboring balconies instead of tour buses rumbling past. I mean, when you’re staying in Dubrovnik, that’s honestly worth its weight in gold – especially during those crazy summer months when the Old Town turns into a human sardine can.
The thing about this little 3-star gem is that Kate (yes, there’s an actual Kate) has figured out something that bigger hotels haven’t – sometimes you just want a place that feels like staying at your Croatian aunt’s house, if your aunt happened to have really good taste in linens and actually cared about water pressure. The rooms aren’t huge, but they’re thoughtfully put together with these lovely wooden touches and balconies that catch the morning sun just right. What really got me was how quiet it stays at night – Sv. Vlaha street doesn’t get the party crowd, so you can actually sleep with the windows open and wake up to birds instead of drunk tourists singing “Wonderwall.”
Getting around from here is honestly pretty perfect once you figure out the local bus system (which, let’s be real, takes about ten minutes to master). The beach at Lapad Bay is maybe a 15-minute walk downhill – and I do mean downhill, so factor that into your evening return journey after a few glasses of that local Dingač wine. For Old Town adventures, you’ve got bus stops nearby, but honestly? I found myself walking the coastal path more often than not. It takes about 35 minutes and gives you these gorgeous glimpses of the Adriatic that make you stop and take photos every few hundred meters. Kate’s also got this little breakfast setup that’s way better than it needs to be – proper local cheeses, fresh bread from the bakery down the street, and coffee that doesn’t taste like it came from a machine that’s been crying for help. The whole place just feels… authentic, I guess? Like it exists for people who actually want to experience Dubrovnik rather than just Instagram it. Sure, you won’t find a spa or a rooftop bar, but you’ll get something better – a genuine slice of how locals actually live in this stunning city, complete with the kind of peaceful mornings that make you want to extend your stay by at least three days.

Reviews
It was amazing. Greeted on arrival and had a wonderful stay. – Karl from United Kingdom – 11 June 2025 (10/10)
View was amazing. Lots of space in the apartment and everything we needed. Balcony is great to sit out, eat breakfast and chill out in the evening.
What could be improved: Some might find it a distance from the old town – but we enjoyed the walk so it depends on what you want.Amazing Stay – Sudipta from Germany – 13 May 2025 (10/10)
We stayed there for 3 nights and it was an amazing stay right on the sea. The key handover was very smooth and Kristian told us everything we needed to know about the apartment and also about local travels and restaurants. The old town is just 20mins walk and the nearest super market is around 6mins walk. The apartment and view is far better than the pictures.
What could be improved: NothingA lovely flat in peaceful part of Dubrovnik – Bodil from Sweden – 28 October 2024 (9/10)
We had a lovely stay here, and even in late October we made good use of the balcony. Vesna was kind enough to pick us up at the bus station and showed us "everything". The flat was light and airy with a sofa as well as table and chairs in the kitchen/sitting room. We had everything we needed in the kitchen – except for the plug for the sink!
It is in a very peaceful part of the city. There are some small shops not far from the flat.
What could be improved: The wifi was a bit shaky at times – especilly out on the balcony. The home page said a 20 minutes walk to the city centre. It is more like 30!Exceeded expectations for quality of lodging and service by the property managers. – Mark from United States – 6 September 2024 (10/10)
This is a gem of a place for those who don’t mind walking 8 minutes to a very frequent city bus or 25 minutes to the Old City. We liked the walks which go by a grocery store, pastry shop, and free public beach. We also walked 30 minutes and back to Port Gruz for a tour which was a bit more strenuous but enjoyable. The apartment itself is small but has everything you need with two twin beds, kitchenette, sitting room and porch with a gorgeous view just like the photos show. The property managers were great, answering every inquiry sent by Booking.com message promptly and Josip kindly arranged efficient transfers to and from the airport with the driver waiting there for us even though our plane was an hour late. You can’t go wrong with Kate’s Place if you don’t mind being a little bit away from Old Town.
What could be improved: N/AClean and comfortable with great view – Aaron from United States – 11 August 2024 (9/10)
Property very clean and had everything needed for a great relaxing trip
Very good – Peter from Hong Kong – 30 July 2024 (8/10)
Very nice view from the balcony.
What could be improved: The shower needs to be replaced as the balcony door and the dinning chairs (peeling) as well.Exceptional – Hugo from Belgium – 14 June 2024 (10/10)
Quiet, beautiful views. It is not so big, but you have everything in the appointment. We are very happy to stay there.
What could be improved: The shower is a bit small. But for short stay, it is acceptable.Superb – Bamaq from Slovakia – 5 May 2024 (9/10)
Despite the fact that the apartment is much smaller than it looks at the photos, we enjoyed our stay, the apartment is cozy and the view from the balcony is breathtaking.
What could be improved: The beds are suitable for shorter people 🙂Lovely apartment with beautiful view. – Judith from Australia – 18 October 2023 (8/10)
The view from the apartment was beautiful looking out over the sea. The walk into the city was fine but coming back up the hill in the heat was a bit hard. I would recommend the bus or taxi.
