You know what caught me off guard about LaMaison Dubrovnik? The moment you step inside, you completely forget you’re on one of the most touristy streets in the Old Town. I mean, Zamanjina is literally a stone’s throw from the main drag where cruise ship crowds shuffle past souvenir shops all day, but somehow this place feels like a secret hideaway. The entrance is pretty understated – honestly, I walked past it twice before spotting the small sign – but once you’re in, there’s this immediate sense of calm that’s actually rare to find within the city walls.

The building itself has that authentic Dubrovnik stone thing going on, and I’m talking about the real deal, not some modern interpretation. You can tell it’s been lovingly restored because the details are all there – the way the light filters through the old windows, the slight unevenness of the floors that reminds you this place has stories. What really impressed me was how quiet it gets at night. During the day, sure, you’ll hear some street noise and the occasional tour group passing by, but come evening when the day-trippers head back to their ships, it’s surprisingly peaceful. The staff actually knows the neighborhood – like, really knows it. They pointed me toward this tiny konoba tucked away on Prijeko that I never would have found otherwise, and when I mentioned I wanted to catch sunrise from the walls, they told me exactly which entrance opens earliest and how to avoid the crowds.

The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star in this location – comfortable without being flashy, with that mix of old-world charm and modern necessities that actually works. The AC is decent (crucial in summer, trust me), and the bathrooms are updated enough that you’re not dealing with any unpleasant surprises. What I appreciated most was the attention to small things – good lighting for reading, outlets where you need them, and windows that actually open so you can let in that Mediterranean breeze. The 8.1 rating feels about right to me; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it delivers on what matters. Location-wise, you’re genuinely in the heart of everything – Stradun is maybe a two-minute walk, you can reach the Rector’s Palace in less than five, and if you’re planning to walk the walls (which, come on, you have to), you’re perfectly positioned. Just a heads up though – like anywhere in the Old Town, getting here with luggage involves some cobblestone navigation, but the staff will help if you need it. This is the kind of place where you can actually experience Dubrovnik rather than just tourist through it.

  Great location in the Old Town – good being able to pop home easily after a few hours out and about. 2 bathrooms. Balcony was fun.
  
  What could be improved: Steep stairs. Small living room. But being in Old Town these are to be expected.

  It is a nice and modern apartment, as shown on the photos. Very good location, so close to the main touristic areas but without the noise. The bed is very comfortable.
  
  What could be improved: It would be good if we had more towels, especially for hands and face as well as hooks/rails on the wall for the towels. There was a standing towel rail but it was not great. I had read in the comments about a bad odour coming from the bathroom, which we experienced too. Also, we struggled to close the bathroom door (sliding door) and never managed to close it fully.

  The accomodation inside was lovely, the bed super comfortable and it was spacious. It is in the old town so close to everything. Decor was lovely and amenities were great.
  
  What could be improved: The stairs oh the stairs!!!! From the carpark where we were dropped off by a family member of the host it was countless difficult stairs and more inside the building to get to our room. I understand it is an old town and that’s how it always is but it was really hard going. Not for people with any walking disability that’s for sure. It was a little tricky to find it but we did of course. To make the stay more appealing a bag service would have been greatly appreciated. I would have liked an iron and some pegs as well. There was a small line outside the window but no pegs. Other than that it was lovely once we had recovered from getting our heavy stuff in 😅

  It was in a very central location. Beds were extremely comfortable , decor was beautiful. Lovely details .
