So I stumbled across this little gem on Vatroslava Lisinskog street, and honestly? It’s one of those places that makes you question why anyone bothers with big chain hotels. The Lorena Suite sits in this quiet residential area that most tourists never find – which is exactly why it’s perfect. You’re maybe a 15-minute walk from the Old Town walls, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with cruise ship crowds stumbling past your window at 2 AM.

The private pool is what sold me initially, and it doesn’t disappoint. It’s not Olympic-sized or anything, but after spending the day climbing those ancient stone steps in July heat, you’ll appreciate having your own little oasis. The suite itself has this lived-in comfort that feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a hotel. The owner clearly put thought into the details – there’s actually decent water pressure in the shower (trust me, this matters in Croatia), and the air conditioning works properly, which… well, you know how that goes in some European places. I mean, the furnishings aren’t going to win any design awards, but everything’s clean and functional, and there’s enough space to actually unpack your suitcase instead of living out of it.

What really impressed me was how quiet it gets at night. This part of Dubrovnik feels properly residential – you’ll hear the occasional car, maybe some neighbors chatting on their balconies, but none of that touristy chaos. The street parking situation is actually manageable too, which anyone who’s driven in Dubrovnik will tell you is basically a miracle. During my stay, the owner gave me solid recommendations for this little konoba about ten minutes away where locals actually eat – not the overpriced tourist traps near Stradun. That 9.8 rating starts making sense when you realize it’s these kinds of touches that separate a good stay from a great one. Sure, you’re not getting a concierge or room service, but you’re getting something better – a genuine slice of how people actually live in this gorgeous, slightly chaotic city. Plus, having your own pool means you can skip the crowded beaches when you just want to relax with a book and a cold Karlovačko.

  Quiet location but near to bars and restaurants. Very clean and all facilities were good. Lovely private pool which is a good size for doing a few lengths. Very good air con and good wifi. Very lovely host Jelena who was only a call away if needed!

  Het appartement is super mooi en groot, gelegen op een top locatie! Het dorpje is heel mooi en gezellig, en is niet ver van het toeristische Old Town (ongeveer een kwartier met de bus). Wij hebben een geweldige tijd gehad!
