Lucija Overview

You know what? I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Dubrovnik over the years, and Lucija really gets it right in ways that surprised me. It’s tucked away on Kneza Branimira street in Lapad – which, honestly, is exactly where you want to be if you’re not trying to get caught up in all the Old Town chaos but still want to actually experience the city like a human being.

The thing about Lapad is that it feels like where actual Dubrovnik residents live and breathe, not just where tourists take selfies. I mean, you’re maybe a 15-minute walk to the medieval walls and all that UNESCO stuff, but you can also grab coffee at the little café around the corner without paying tourist prices. The hotel itself sits on this quiet residential street where you’ll hear church bells in the morning instead of cruise ship announcements – trust me, that matters more than you think when you’re trying to sleep off jet lag. The rooms have this understated elegance that doesn’t scream “four-star hotel” but rather whispers it confidently. Clean lines, local stone accents, and windows that actually open to let in that Mediterranean breeze (you’d be amazed how many places seal you in with AC). The staff – and I’m not just saying this because they remembered my name after day two – genuinely seem to care about whether you’re having a good time, not just whether you’re checking out on schedule.

What really sold me on this place was the attention to details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The shower pressure is excellent, there’s enough counter space for two people’s stuff, and the Wi-Fi doesn’t mysteriously die every time more than three people try to use it. Plus, parking is sorted (which, if you’ve ever tried to park anywhere near Dubrovnik’s center, you know is basically a miracle). The breakfast spread leans heavy on local ingredients – proper Croatian cheese, fresh figs when they’re in season, and coffee that doesn’t taste like it was made yesterday. I actually found myself looking forward to mornings there, which doesn’t happen often when I travel. The location gives you this perfect balance where you can walk to Lapad Bay for a swim without the crowds, catch a bus to the Old Town when you want to do the tourist thing, or just wander the neighborhood and stumble across family-run konobas that serve the kind of seafood that makes you understand why people move to the coast. That 9.8 rating? Yeah, it makes sense once you’ve been there.

  My stay was great, everything was fine. The place is 20 minutes walking from the historic center and close to grocery shops, friendly neighbour, A/C, kitchen, washing machine, also very quiet. I didn't have big bags, but if you do, be careful when booking because the building doesn't have an elevator and you'll have to climb stairs and It's on the top floor. Not my case, but I don't recommend if you have reduced mobility.

  When we at the property we met the host she was warm friendly, we found all we needed toiletries even washing liquid, softer ect the washing machine was very helpful, the location was about 20 mins walk from the old town
  
  What could be improved: If you walked from the bus station there were many steps leading to the property, from the entrance there is no lift only steps, anyone with mobility issues should find this difficult as the apartment is on the 5th floor.
