You know what? I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Dubrovnik, and Lumari on Lopudska ulica is one of those finds that makes you want to keep it secret. It’s tucked away in this quiet residential street that most tourists never discover – honestly, I walked past it twice the first time because it blends so naturally into the neighborhood. The building itself has that understated Croatian elegance, nothing flashy, but you can tell someone actually cares about the place.

What really got me was how the owner, Marko, actually lives in the building. I mean, you can tell the difference immediately when someone’s invested in their property versus just collecting rent checks. He gave me this whole rundown about the best bakery on Stradun (skip the touristy one by Pile Gate, apparently), and honestly knew more about bus schedules to the airport than I did. The apartment itself is… well, it’s not huge, but it’s smartly designed. The kitchen actually has proper knives and a decent coffee maker – small things that matter when you’re there for more than a night. The Wi-Fi is solid, which I appreciated since I was trying to work a bit, and the AC works properly (trust me, you’ll want that in July).

Here’s the thing about the location though – Lopudska ulica is maybe a 12-minute walk to the Old Town, which sounds far until you realize you’re avoiding all the cruise ship crowds that clog up the main drag. I’d walk down in the morning, grab coffee at this little place near the Ploče Gate, and feel like I had Dubrovnik to myself. Plus, there’s actual parking nearby, which is basically a miracle in this city. The street gets quiet at night too – no drunk backpackers stumbling around at 2 AM like you get closer to the hostels. I slept better there than I have at some five-star places, honestly. The 9.8 rating doesn’t surprise me at all; it’s the kind of place where everything just works without any fuss, and you end up extending your stay because… well, why wouldn’t you?

  We stayed at Ms. Iva’s apartment for 4 nights, and during that time we had everything we could possibly need. These are some of the best apartments we’ve stayed in recently. Everything is provided — from kitchen essentials to entertainment, from a washing machine to a beautiful view from the terrace, where we spent more than one evening enjoying a delicious dinner and a glass of Aperol.
  
  Ms. Iva herself is incredibly kind and welcoming. Before our trip, we saw that the weather forecast for our stay wasn’t very promising, so I asked her if it would be possible to provide at least one umbrella. When we arrived, we found two umbrellas and two brand-new raincoats waiting for us. Ms. Iva also answered any questions we had — from kitchen oil to how to get to the Old Town and back.
  
  So all I can say about our stay in Dubrovnik is that it was absolutely wonderful. Stunning view from the balcony, everything you need is in the apartment (and it’s fairly new), the option to park near the house, and incredibly friendly hosts — definitely a 10 out of 10.
  
  What could be improved: What we’re sharing below isn’t something that would justify removing even a single star — these are simply suggestions, not complaints.
  • The walk to the Old Town is quite long — about 45–50 minutes — so we usually took an Uber or Bolt back. But that’s just part of Dubrovnik’s charm: with limited building space, similarly comfortable apartments closer to the center would cost twice as much. It’s a matter of choice, not a flaw.
  • In the kitchen, we’d suggest adding a couple of better knives and cutting boards. The current ones work, but may not be ideal for everyone (they were fine for us). Also, the trash bin is quite small compared to the size of the bags, so it filled up quickly. We often just removed the bag and kept using it outside the bin.
  • The internet was available but not very fast during our stay. We often switched to mobile data, which was fine for us as we’re from Poland and have EU roaming.
  • The bathroom is compact but comfortable. Still, we’d suggest adding better water protection in the shower — water tended to escape beyond the partition. Also, the ventilation runs automatically with the light and creates constant noise, even when not needed. Being able to control it separately would be a plus.
  • One last thing — and this might be hard to fix — is the draft in the building’s stairwell. At night or early morning, it caused a whistling sound that reached the apartment corridor and even woke me up once or twice. We found that pressing the entrance door more tightly helped. Maybe an extra seal could solve it. We managed by locking the bedroom door.
  
  Again, all of these are just friendly tips for future improvements — not issues that would affect our rating. Please take them in the positive spirit in which they’re shared.

• Beautiful apartment close to cruise port – Matea from Ireland – 15 April 2025 (10/10)

  We stayed in Iva’s apartment for our Dubrovnik trip and loved it. Iva’s apartment is very close to the cruise port and main bus station. You can take a shuttle from the airport to the bus station for 10 euro. It’s a very short walk but there are a lot of stairs so if u have bags might need to take a taxi. The apartment is beautiful and had everything we could need. The view from the balcony was amazing. Taxi to old town was about 5-6 euro. Would stay here again!!

  El apartamento muy bonito, el trato con la anfitriona muy rápido y correcto. Tenía todos los detalles, muy limpio, nuevo y moderno…la terraza y las vistas geniales. El aparcamiento en la puerta. Muy buena comunicación de bus para ir al centro.

  Чудова квартира. Новий ремонт. Неймовірний вид з балкон. В квартирі було абсолютно все для нашого комфортного проживання. Крім того була неймовірно уважна господиня апартаментів. Швидко відповідала на всі наші запитання і допомагала розібратись в усіх виникаючих питаннях, щодо нашої подорожі в місті.
