Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Dubrovnik over the years, and MariaSweetBlu honestly surprised me. The name’s a bit quirky – I mean, what does that even mean? – but don’t let that throw you off. This little 4-star gem sits right on Šetalište kralja Zvonimira, which is basically the promenade that runs along the water just outside the old city walls. You know that stretch where locals actually walk their dogs and kids ride bikes? That’s where you are, not crammed into some touristy side street with cruise ship crowds pushing past your door every five minutes.

The thing about this spot is you’re literally a 3-minute walk from Pile Gate – I timed it because I’m that kind of person – but you’re far enough away that you can actually sleep at night. The rooms face the water, and honestly, waking up to that view of Lokrum Island sitting there in the morning light… well, it doesn’t get old. The staff clearly knows what they’re doing (that 9.7 rating isn’t an accident), and I noticed they remember your name after day one, which is refreshing when you’re used to being just another room number. Check-in was smooth, no weird deposit holds or confusing key card systems – just straightforward hospitality.

What really sold me was the practical stuff nobody talks about in those glossy hotel photos. The air conditioning actually works – crucial in July when Dubrovnik turns into a furnace. There’s decent wifi that doesn’t cut out every time someone in the next room opens Netflix. And here’s something I really appreciated: they have proper blackout curtains, not those flimsy things that let in every streetlight. The breakfast spread is solid without being overwhelming, and they use local suppliers, so the cheese and prosciutto actually taste like something. Parking can be tricky in this area (it’s Dubrovnik, after all), but they sorted that out without the usual runaround. The whole place feels like someone who actually travels designed it, if that makes sense – little touches like bedside USB ports and a coffee machine that doesn’t require an engineering degree to operate. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it nails the fundamentals that make a stay actually comfortable rather than just Instagram-worthy.

  Great location, comfortable apartment, had everything needed for a short stay. As pretty as pictures suggest. One suggestion would be to provide brush or vacuum to tidy up with during stay.

  The property had everything we needed. The room was very well laid out, had plenty of storage and the bed was nice and big. Lots of thoughtful touches such as extra blankets, washing detergent for the machine and pegs for the clothes line.

  What could be improved: The TV is quite old and we struggled to connect to anything other than the local Channels.

  Very good location. On the same street, a very good selection of restaurants, the beach and a beautiful promenade 200m away. Since we used a rental car, it was also very convenient that the parking lot was nearby. All in all, a beautiful apartment with a very good location and a very friendly and helpful host. Recommend.   I really enjoyed my stay in this apartment. Hosts are very attentive and kind people. With any question they can help you as soon as possible. I was wonderfully greeted, they even settled us a little earlier, since I was with a child. The location of the place is great. You can find supermarket, beach, restaurants and bars within hundred meters from the apartment. The main thing for me personally is clearness. I this case there is no worries, everything cleaned passionately, the bed and towels are fresh and smell tasty.
