MARLEA sea-view apartments Overview
You know what struck me first about MARLEA? It’s tucked away on this quiet side street – Ulica od Gaja – that most tourists never even notice, but honestly, that’s exactly what makes it special. I mean, you’re literally two minutes from all the Old Town chaos, but when you step onto that little terrace with your morning coffee, it feels like you’ve found this secret pocket of calm that somehow the cruise ship crowds missed.
The apartments themselves are exactly what you’d hope for without any of the usual letdowns. The sea views aren’t just a marketing gimmick – I’m talking about actual blue water stretching toward the islands, not some sliver you have to crane your neck to see. The woman who runs the place (I think her name was Marija?) clearly gets that travelers want space to spread out. There’s a proper kitchen where you can actually cook something more ambitious than instant noodles, and the living areas don’t feel like afterthoughts. What really impressed me though was how everything just… worked. You know how apartment rentals can be hit or miss with the basics? Well, the shower had great pressure, the air conditioning didn’t sound like a helicopter, and – this might sound small but it matters – there were enough outlets near the bed for all your devices.
The location thing is tricky to explain without sounding like a guidebook, but here’s the deal: Dubrovnik’s Old Town can feel pretty overwhelming during peak hours, all those stone streets packed with tour groups and restaurant hustlers. But staying just outside the walls means you get to experience the city’s rhythm differently. Early morning walks along the ramparts before the heat hits, late dinners at places where locals actually eat (there’s this little konoba just down the hill that does incredible peka), and honestly, just being able to retreat somewhere peaceful when the medieval charm starts feeling claustrophobic. The walk into the main square takes maybe five minutes, but it’s enough distance to make all the difference. Plus, and this is worth mentioning – parking isn’t a complete nightmare from here, which if you’re driving in Croatia, you’ll understand why that’s basically a miracle. I’d definitely come back, and coming from someone who rarely stays at the same place twice, that’s saying something.

Cannot fault the apartments they will fabulous and because they are interconnected it was good for the older adults being in the penthouse and being able to come and go between both 😀
What could be improved: Didn't have many utensils in the penthouse or a coffee pod machine which would have been useful.Sarah from Italy – 17 October 2024 (10/10)

What could be improved: I wish they would’ve fans for the bedrooms.
There is an AC for the living room area/kitchen.
My friend decided to use the couch to sleep in,because the other room is too warm.Julie from United Kingdom – 7 July 2024 (10/10)
Stunning property. Super clean with great facilities and very comfy beds
What could be improved: Nothing! The umbrella on the balcony was broken so we did report thisRebecca from United Kingdom – 23 June 2024 (8/10)
Excellent location in between the old town and lapad.
lovely and spacious. Lovely views, had everything we needed for our short stay. good communication from the owner and easy to find and access.
The apartment has a dishwasher and a washing machine.
lovely touch with the wine in the fridge – thank you.
What could be improved: There is a shared lobby with the other property ( the penthouse), the light switch in the lobby also switches on the light in the hallway. this was a bit alarming in the middle of the night when the other guests arrived home making lots of noise and lights all came on! We had all the doors open as the air con was only in the lounge. we found this adequate even with the very high temperatures
The slats on one side of the double bed do not fit properly and we had to rebuild the bed each night as they came off when I moved. Really not ideal.Shuk from Hong Kong – 23 June 2024 (10/10)
