You know what struck me first about MaZa Apartment? It’s tucked away on Dalmatinska ulica in this quiet residential pocket of Lapad that honestly feels like you’re staying in someone’s actual neighborhood – because you are. I mean, most tourists get funneled into the Old Town madness or those big resort complexes along the coast, but this spot gives you something different. You’re about a 15-minute walk from Lapad Bay (the locals swim there early morning before it gets crowded), and there’s this little bakery two streets over where I grabbed the best burek at 7 AM while jet-lagged. The apartment itself is surprisingly spacious – I was expecting typical European “cozy” but got rooms where you can actually spread out your stuff without playing Tetris with your luggage.

What really sells this place is how it straddles that sweet spot between being close to everything but not in the thick of tourist chaos. The Lapad peninsula has this laid-back vibe that Old Town just… doesn’t, especially in summer when cruise ships dump thousands of people into those narrow streets. Here, you’ll hear actual Croatian conversations in the evening, smell dinner cooking from neighboring apartments, and there’s parking (trust me, that’s huge in Dubrovnik). The host clearly knows their stuff – check-in was smooth, they had local recommendations that weren’t just the obvious Trip Advisor hits, and the Wi-Fi actually works reliably if you need to get some work done. I appreciated little touches like having a washing machine (because who wants to pack three weeks of clothes?) and a kitchen that’s actually functional, not just decorative.

Look, this isn’t going to blow your mind with luxury amenities or Instagram-worthy design, but it nails the fundamentals really well. The 4-star rating feels accurate – it’s comfortable, clean, well-located, and the kind of place where you settle in rather than just crash between sightseeing marathons. That 9-point rating makes sense too; I can’t think of anything majorly wrong with it, though the shower pressure was just okay and street noise isn’t zero (windows open on warm nights, you’ll hear some traffic). What I’d tell friends is this: if you want to experience Dubrovnik more like a temporary resident than a tourist, and you value having space to breathe plus easy access to both local life and the main sights, MaZa Apartment delivers. Plus, you’re saving money you’d blow on overpriced Old Town restaurants and can actually cook breakfast without it costing 20 euros.

  Very good location (close to shops, restaurants and beaches) where you can find peace and quiet after a long day
  
  The flat is new and very well furnished (all necessary cooking equipment, air conditioning, two very large TVs, access to streaming platforms).
  
  Very comfortable bed (the best I have slept on of all my travels so far) and the possibility to dim the bedroom as much as possible so that no light enters.
  
  The flat is very well organised and functional in terms of the layout of everything.
  
  Apartament has everything you need for more than comfortable stay and also in case of emergency, hosts are very responsive and supportive.

  It was very difficult to communicate with management. The code was sent in the last minute. If your phone misfunctions you will have great trouble collecting it, as I did.
  
  What could be improved: My bed was not made and I could not locate proper bedding. Management was very slow to respond to this and other inquiries. The owners came over themselves and fixed the bedding issue, but I had to spend one night without proper bedding.

  Great location near beaches and bus ride of 10 minutes to old town. Bus stop and supermarkets around the corner. Quiet location, yet nearby dining and touristic options and apartment with all the facilities you need (fully equipped new kitchen, new and good matras on the bed, spacious bathroom, clean and new appartment). Hosts were very helpful and quick in their responses. Even left whine as a welcome and had tips of things to do. Would come back here again!
  
  What could be improved: We came with a baby so a baby cottage would have been nice. We managed to bring our own.

  The location is great within walking distance of restaurants, grocery stores, and amenities. Short cab ride to Old Town. Lots of bedding and towels. Kitchen is great. Hosts respond to questions very fast.
  
  What could be improved: Beds are very firm but King size bed in bedroom was a bonus.

  L'appartement est très bien équipé à l'intérieur. Cuisine équipée et salon et chambre confortable.
  Le service de gestion de l'appartement était très réactif et les instructions d'arrivée étaient très clairs et faciles.
  L'appartement est très bien placé à Dubrovnik.
  
  What could be improved: Les fourmis et la propreté. L'aspirateur n'a pas été fait derrière le canapé. Le canapé lit n'est pas très confortable pour dormir. Il est très bien pour s'asseoir.
  Des fourmis arrivent de partout.
  L'étendoir à linge est derrière pas facile d'accès.
