Hotel Description
So I stumbled upon this little gem on Prijeko ulica, and honestly, I almost walked right past it – the entrance is tucked between two of those tourist restaurants that line the street. But here’s the thing about Prijeko: it’s literally the main artery running through Dubrovnik’s Old Town, which means you’re about thirty seconds from everything that matters. I mean, step out the door and you’re already deeper into the medieval maze than most hotel guests ever get.
The Midtown Studio Apartment is one of those places that gets it right without trying too hard. It’s a 3-star setup, but that 9.6 rating isn’t just inflated review happiness – there’s substance here. The studio itself feels authentically Croatian, not like someone tried to recreate a boutique hotel vibe with IKEA furniture. The stone walls are actually old (you can tell because they’re slightly uneven in that charming way), and the windows open onto the kind of narrow street scene you came to Dubrovnik to experience. You know what I loved? The morning light hits the apartment just right around 8 AM, and you can hear the street vendors setting up their stalls – it’s like having a front-row seat to the city waking up.
Now, let’s talk practicalities because this is where a lot of Old Town stays fall apart. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no hunting around for hidden reception desks or dealing with complicated key pickup protocols. Parking is obviously not happening right outside (it’s the Old Town, people), but they actually give you solid directions to the nearest lot instead of just shrugging and saying “good luck.” The noise level is what you’d expect from a street that sees foot traffic all day, but it dies down surprisingly well after the dinner crowds thin out around 10 PM. I was worried about summer heat since stone buildings can turn into ovens, but the airflow through those old windows actually works pretty well – though I’d still recommend visiting in shoulder season if you can swing it.
What really won me over was the location intelligence. You’re positioned perfectly to duck into Café Buža for morning coffee (the locals’ choice, not the tourist trap version), and you’re close enough to the Rector’s Palace that you can pop over during the less crowded early evening hours. The Stradun is maybe a two-minute walk, but you’re just off the main tourist highway so you get to feel like you’re discovering secret passages every time you head home. Plus – and this is key – you’re walking distance from some of the better konobas that tourists never find because they’re not directly on the main drag.
Look, if you want a resort experience with a pool and room service, this isn’t your place. But if you actually want to stay in Dubrovnik rather than just visit it, this studio apartment nails that balance between authentic location and genuine comfort. The 9.6 rating makes sense once you’ve spent a few days here – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, and in a city full of overpriced disappointments, that kind of honest quality is worth its weight in Croatian kuna.

Wonderful. – Susan from United States – 24 June 2025 (10/10)
I was cozy and homey. The host provided some basics in the kitchen, the decor was beautiful. The location was in the heart of everything.
What could be improved: Nothing.Very good – Karla from United States – 27 June 2025 (8/10)
The property manager met us at the apartment and took the time to familiarize us with everything, which was a great start. The apartment itself is beautiful and very centrally located—perfect for exploring the area. When I had trouble figuring out the towel warmer, she responded quickly and was happy to help. She also had some excellent restaurant recommendations that really enhanced our stay. Overall, a fantastic experience!
Fantastic, brilliant place to stay – Anonymous from United Kingdom – 21 May 2025 (10/10)
Property was spacious, clean, comfortable. The staff are lovely, checked in to make sure everything was ok but not overbearing.
What could be improved: It’s 2 flights of stairs, one set a little bit slippy if haven’t got good footwear. It is doable, even with suitcases but just bear in mind when booking. Will be like this everywhere in old town.Exceptional – Léa from France – 25 May 2025 (10/10)
