The room itself is… well, it’s a 3-star place, so don’t expect marble bathrooms or anything fancy, but there’s something really charming about the simplicity. The windows – and this is important – actually open onto the street, so you get these amazing morning sounds of locals chatting and the occasional delivery truck navigating those impossibly narrow lanes. Some people might find that annoying, but I loved it. You’re getting the real soundtrack of Old Town life, not some sanitized hotel experience. The AC works great (crucial during those sweltering July afternoons), and the Wi-Fi is surprisingly solid for a building that’s probably older than most countries. What really impressed me was how clean everything was – I mean spotless – and the bed was actually comfortable, which you can’t always count on in these historic conversions.

Here’s what you need to know practically: parking is going to be your biggest headache, but that’s true anywhere in Old Town. You’ll probably end up at one of the lots outside the walls and wheeling your suitcase over those polished stones – wear good shoes, trust me. The location though… honestly, it’s almost too good. You’re maybe a three-minute walk from Stradun, but far enough away that you won’t have cruise ship crowds stumbling past your window at all hours. There’s this little bakery – I think it’s called Dubrovacka – just around the corner that opens ridiculously early, and the smell of fresh bread basically serves as your alarm clock. The staff clearly knows the neighborhood inside and out; they pointed me toward this tiny wine bar (more like someone’s living room, really) that I never would have found otherwise. That 9.2 rating makes total sense when you consider what you’re getting for the price point – it’s not luxury, but it’s authentic Dubrovnik living without the tourist markup.
