Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Nautica Room 2? It’s actually tucked away on this narrow cobblestone street – Kunićeva ulica – that most tourists just rush past on their way to the main drag. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from Stradun, but somehow it feels like you’ve found this quiet pocket that the crowds haven’t discovered yet. The building itself has that weathered Dubrovnik stone that’s been soaking up centuries of Mediterranean sun, and honestly, there’s something pretty magical about waking up surrounded by walls that have stories to tell.

The room itself is what I’d call thoughtfully done – not trying too hard to be fancy, but everything just works. The bed was actually comfortable (you’d be surprised how many places in Old Town skimp on mattresses), and the bathroom had proper water pressure, which… well, if you’ve stayed in historic buildings before, you know that’s not always a given. What really got me was this little balcony – nothing huge, but perfect for morning coffee while listening to the city wake up. You hear the shopkeepers opening their shutters, maybe some early-morning delivery trucks rumbling over the stones, and if you lean just right, you can catch a glimpse of the harbor between the rooftops. The Wi-Fi was solid too, which mattered since I was trying to upload photos without having to trek to a café every time.

Here’s the thing about staying right in Old Town – and the folks at Nautica seem to get this – it’s all about the balance between being in the heart of everything and still having a place to actually relax. During peak season (July and August, basically), Stradun turns into this river of tourists, but step onto Kunićeva and it’s like someone turned down the volume. The location means you can pop out for dinner at Arsenal or grab pastries from that little bakery near Rector’s Palace without any real planning. But you’re also close enough to the Pile Gate that getting your luggage in and out isn’t a nightmare – trust me, navigating those stones with a heavy suitcase is no joke. The staff gave me pretty solid recommendations too, including this tiny konoba tucked behind the cathedral that I never would’ve found otherwise. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in the city rather than just visiting it, if that makes sense.

  • Exceptional – Eeva from Finland – 18 June 2025 (10/10)

Very helpful owners. The apartment is in the center of Old City.

What could be improved: Old city was very expensive.

  • Superb – Harini from Ireland – 2 June 2025 (9/10)

The apartment features a charming nautical/navy-themed decor and is perfectly located right in the heart of the old town—everything was within easy walking distance.

The room was spotless, with a very comfortable bed and just the right amount of space for two people. The bathroom was modern and clean, and stocked with plenty of toiletries. We especially loved the cute little balcony and the strong air conditioning, which was a lifesaver in the summer heat. The water pressure in the shower was excellent too!

An ideal stay for two—highly recommended!

What could be improved: As it’s an old town wooden building, we could occasionally hear footsteps from above, but it was nothing disruptive. The only minor downside was the slightly dim lighting at the mirror next to the bed—it made doing my hair a bit tricky 🙈. Other than that, everything was perfect.

  • Superb – Michael from United States – 28 May 2025 (9/10)
