Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “NewCityGem! Enjoy Sunsets@Bright&Modern 1BR APT,” I thought it was going to be one of those overly hyped Airbnb disasters. You know the type. But this place on Ulica Alberta Hallera actually delivers on those sunset promises, and I mean really delivers.

The apartment sits in Lapad, which is honestly one of the better neighborhoods to stay in if you want to feel like you’re living in Dubrovnik rather than just visiting it. You’re about a 15-minute bus ride from the Old Town madness (which gets pretty overwhelming in summer, trust me), but you’ve got this lovely residential vibe with actual locals doing their grocery shopping and walking their dogs. The building itself is modern without being soulless – clean lines, good lighting, and mercifully quiet at night. I stayed here in late September and barely heard any street noise, though I imagine it might get busier during peak season.

What really got me was the sunset situation from the apartment. The listing name isn’t just marketing fluff – you actually get these incredible views as the sun drops behind the Adriatic. I found myself timing my dinners around it, which… well, that’s either romantic or slightly obsessive, depending on how you look at it. The interior is genuinely bright and modern like they promise, with this minimalist Croatian coastal thing going on. Good wifi (I had to work a few mornings), excellent shower pressure, and a kitchen that’s actually functional if you want to hit the local market and cook something up. The bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with it all night, which honestly happens more often than I’d like to admit when traveling.

The host was responsive without being pushy – answered my questions about bus routes and restaurant recommendations quickly, then left me alone to enjoy the space. Check-in was smooth, none of that awkward key-exchange dance you sometimes get with private rentals. And you know what? The 9.6 rating makes sense once you’re there. It’s not trying to be a luxury hotel or some Instagram-perfect space, it’s just a really solid, comfortable place to base yourself while exploring this part of Croatia. The location gives you easy access to both the touristy bits when you want them and the regular neighborhood life when you need a break from all that. Plus, there’s decent parking nearby, which anyone who’s driven in Croatian coastal towns will tell you is basically a minor miracle.

  Such a beautiful, lovely, clean apartment. Petra was an amazing host, she recommended lots of really good bars and restaurants, and activities to do. The apartment is just a 15-20 minute walk from old town.

  El apartamento de Petra es genial. Es precioso y muy limpio , y tiene todo lo que necesitas para pasar uno días allí. Cerca del apartamento tienes restaurantes y tiendas. Se tarda unos 20-25 minutos andando al centro, pero tienes un bus al lado que te deja allí y pasa cada 20 minutos. Petra es majísima y te da consejos para que disfrutes de tu tiempo en Dubrovnik. En resumen, es perfecto 🙂
