You know what struck me first about OLD CITY VIEWPOINT? The name isn’t just marketing fluff – you actually get those postcard views of Dubrovnik’s old town that everyone’s chasing, but from a spot that feels refreshingly removed from the tourist chaos below. I mean, you’re still in Ploče, so you’re walkable to everything that matters, but Ulica Matije Gupca sits just high enough that you escape the cruise ship crowds that flood Stradun every morning around 9 AM. The building itself has this understated elegance – honestly, it feels more like staying at a well-traveled friend’s apartment than a typical hotel, which I’m guessing is exactly what DubrovnikView was going for.

The location is actually pretty brilliant if you think about it. Most people obsess over staying inside the old town walls, but they don’t realize how suffocating that gets (and expensive, and loud at night when the bars empty out). From Gupca street, you’re maybe a 7-minute walk down to Pile Gate, but you’re positioned so you can see the whole medieval city spread out below you – especially magical around sunset when the limestone walls go all golden. I loved that you could grab morning coffee and actually hear birds instead of tour guides with megaphones. The staff seemed to really know their stuff too, not just the usual “tourist information desk” knowledge, but actual insights about which restaurants locals frequent and when to hit places like the city walls to avoid the worst crowds.

What really won me over, though, was the attention to details that most places miss. The rooms feel thoughtfully designed – not just decorated, but actually lived-in comfortable. You can tell someone who understands how people actually travel had input here. There’s proper lighting for reading, enough outlets near the bed, and the AC that actually works (crucial during those humid Croatian summers). The 9.8 rating honestly makes sense when you experience it – it’s not trying to be the flashiest place in town, but everything just works seamlessly. Parking can be a bit tricky in this area, like most of Dubrovnik, but they’ll sort you out with recommendations. I’d definitely stay here again, particularly if I wanted to feel connected to the city’s energy without being overwhelmed by it. It’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay an extra night just because leaving feels premature.

  The location is near old town, only walk 5 minutes can get there. The decoration is very new.

  Great host, very clear instructions to do self-service check-in and check-out.
  Location of the apartment is great, the views of the city walls and the sea are amazing. You have to keep in mind that there are quite a few stairs do go up/down but there's always the option of taking a taxi on your way up!
  The apartment itself has everything you need, excellent A/C which you really need after being outside all day. Spacious bedrooms, well decorated; large bathroom as well. The kitchen is well equipped , has a coffee machine, toaster, etc.
  The hosts left a bottle of white wine in the fridge which was a very nice gesture.
  Overall, a great place to stay !

  일단 집에 너무 좋습니다. 내부를 새로 리모델링한건지 너무 깔끔했고, 주방이나 세탁기 구비되어있어 더 편했던 것 같아요.
  침대가 너무 편해서 진짜 매일 숙면했었던것 같아요-
  전망은 말할것도 없습니다. 사진보다 더 예뻐요!
  주인분도 너무 친절하시고 크로아티아 숙박 중 가장 좋았던 것 같아요. 가족끼리 놀러갔었는데 부모님도 엄청 만족하셨어요.
  
  What could be improved: 모든 것이 다 좋았지만 계단을 조금 올라가야한다는 점..
  걷는거 싫어하시거나 불편하신 분들은 우버타시거나 계단없는 돌아올라오는 길로 오시면 더 편할것 같아요-
