Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of places in Dubrovnik’s Old Town, and honestly? Palacio Celeste kind of surprised me. It’s tucked away on Nikole Božidarevića – which, good luck pronouncing that if you’re asking for directions – but that’s actually perfect because you’re literally a two-minute walk from Stradun without being right in the thick of all that tourist chaos. The building itself has this gorgeous stone facade that you’d expect in the Old Town, but when you climb up to the second floor (and yes, you will be climbing – no elevator, just so you know), you walk into something that feels way more luxurious than the narrow street outside suggests.

The rooms are what really got me though. I mean, you know how most Old Town accommodations are either cramped medieval cells or they’ve been so modernized they’ve lost all character? This place actually nails that balance. The ceilings are high – really high – with these beautiful wooden beams that make you feel like you’re staying in an actual palace, which I guess makes sense given the name. The bathrooms are surprisingly spacious too, which is rare for this part of the city. What I loved most was how quiet it gets at night. You’re close enough to hear the faint sounds of people wandering the streets, but far enough from the main restaurant strips that you’re not dealing with drunk tourists at 2 AM. The stone walls are thick enough that you barely hear your neighbors, which – trust me – is not something you can say about most places here.

The staff really knows their stuff about the city, and I don’t mean in that rehearsed concierge way. They’ll tell you which restaurants the locals actually eat at (not the tourist traps on Stradun), and they gave me the best advice about timing my wall walk to avoid the cruise ship crowds. One thing though – if you’re planning to visit during summer, book way ahead because places like this fill up fast, and honestly, the 9.2 rating isn’t just for show. It’s earned. The morning light streaming through those tall windows, the way the stone stays cool even when it’s blazing hot outside, the fact that you can walk to Rector’s Palace in about three minutes but still feel like you’ve found this hidden gem – it all adds up. Plus, parking is actually manageable if you’re driving (they’ll direct you to the right spots), which is more than I can say for most Old Town hotels. It’s not cheap, but for what you get in this location, it’s actually pretty reasonable for Dubrovnik standards.

The apartment was perfect. You could not have asked for a better location and it was easy getting our luggage there. It was a pleasant surprise exactly like the photos, meticulously clean, comfortable and very roomy for its size. Especially loved the spacious bathroom. The sofa bed was very comfortable too and allowed us each to have our own bed. We were very pleased that it was so nice. Vicko provided very good instructions and answered all our questions immediately. We were able to store our luggage earlier and he even arranged for us to check in slightly earlier. We will certainly recommend to all our friends.
