You know what? Pansion Panorama Dubrovnik is one of those places that gets overlooked because everyone’s obsessed with staying inside the Old Town walls – but honestly, that’s their loss. This little family-run spot sits up on Majkovska Street in Gruz, and I mean *up* – you’ll definitely get your steps in walking from the port area, but the views once you’re there are absolutely worth the mini-hike.

The pension has this authentic Croatian feel that you just can’t fake. The owners actually live there, so there’s always someone around who knows exactly where to find the best burek in the neighborhood (hint: it’s not in the tourist guides). The rooms are simple but clean – think more “staying at your Croatian aunt’s house” than fancy hotel, which I actually loved. The beds are properly comfortable, and most rooms have these little balconies where you can sit with your morning coffee and watch the cruise ships lumber into port. Speaking of which, you’re maybe a 10-minute walk from where the ferries dock, so if you’re island-hopping to Lokrum or the Elafiti Islands, the location is actually pretty genius. The breakfast is that Eastern European spread you hope for – fresh bread, local cheeses, homemade jam, and coffee that’ll properly wake you up before tackling Dubrovnik’s marble streets.

What really sold me on this place was how the family running it treats you like… well, like family. They’ll sit down and map out your whole day, telling you which times to hit the city walls to avoid the worst crowds (early morning or late afternoon, trust me on this), and they know all the local bus schedules by heart. The pension itself is quiet – you’re away from the Old Town party noise but still close enough that a quick bus ride or 20-minute walk gets you to Stradun. Plus, there’s actually decent parking nearby, which if you’ve ever tried to drive in Dubrovnik, you’ll know is basically a miracle. The whole area has this lived-in neighborhood vibe where you’ll see locals doing their shopping and kids playing in the streets, not just tourists taking selfies every five steps. Sure, it’s not luxury – the WiFi can be spotty, and the decor is definitely more functional than Instagram-worthy – but for the price point and the genuine warmth of the experience, I’d absolutely stay here again. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re actually experiencing Croatian hospitality, not just paying for a bed in a tourist zone.

  Pandiom Panorama is set on a hill with an amazing view and a bus ride from the Old Town. The bus links are very good and they are very regular. All in all a very comfortable stay.

  The location is near to old town and beaches. Very accessible to public transport. The owner is very kind and accommodating. We had a very good. view from our balcony. Highly recommended.
