Look, I’ll be straight with you about A217 – this isn’t some fancy hotel with a marble lobby and doormen, but honestly? That’s exactly why it works so well. Located on Hrvatskog Crvenog Kriza (yeah, I know, Croatian street names are a mouthful), you’re basically in the sweet spot of Dubrovnik where actual locals live, not just the tourist bubble. The building itself is pretty typical for this part of town – solid, maybe a bit communist-era looking from the outside, but don’t let that fool you. Once you’re inside the apartment, it’s been done up really nicely. The owner clearly gets what travelers need – proper blackout curtains (trust me, summer sun in Dubrovnik hits different), a kitchen that actually has sharp knives and real coffee cups, not those tiny hotel ones that hold about three sips.

What I love about this spot is how it sits in the city. You’re maybe a 15-minute walk to the Old Town walls, which means you can actually escape the cruise ship crowds when they descend like locusts around midday. The neighborhood has this great morning rhythm – there’s a little market nearby where you can grab fresh bread and those amazing Croatian figs, and the locals at the café downstairs make proper coffee, not tourist coffee. Parking… well, it’s Dubrovnik, so parking is always going to be a bit of an adventure, but the host knows the area and will point you toward the spots that don’t require a engineering degree to navigate. The 9.3 rating makes sense once you’ve stayed here – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but everything that should work, works. The Wi-Fi is solid (I worked from there for three days without issues), the shower pressure is actually decent, and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a dying helicopter.

Here’s the thing though – and this is why I keep coming back to places like this instead of the big hotels down by the harbor – you get to live in Dubrovnik for a few days, not just visit it. Your neighbors are Croatian families, not other tourists. You’ll hear real life happening around you, kids playing in the courtyard, someone’s grandmother hanging laundry (there’s something oddly comforting about that). The apartment itself sleeps comfortably, and honestly, after walking those stone streets all day, you’ll appreciate having a proper living room to spread out in. Pro tip: grab some wine from the shop around the corner and sit on the little balcony in the evening – you can’t see the sea, but you can hear the city settling down for the night, and there’s something pretty magical about that.

  The room was well decorated with fully equipped kitchen, dishes washing machine and private garage. The lacation is in the new town of Dubrovnik 3 km away from old town. The host was very helpful and, she always responded my text.

  Fantastic little apartment about 30 mins walk to old town but with a frequent bus stop outside. We wanted to stay somewhere relaxing away from the centre and this was perfect, lots of restaurants within a 15 min walk and a gorgeous port. Apartment was spotless, so many amenities provided and it was comfortable and safe. The bed was so comfy and the balcony a lovely touch. The owner was great and very responsive to our questions, allowed us to check out late which was a godsend for us!

  Great location, right in front of the bus stops and close to a supermarket, which is very convenient. The place is extremely clean, and all necessary products are provided. The bed is very comfortable, and the overall atmosphere is calm, perfect for relaxing. Highly recommend for a pleasant and hassle-free stay.

  What could be improved: Very dark and small apartment, with a closed terrace facing a wall, which affects the experience. The decor is not modern, but it has its own charming style.

  I can't put into words what a wonderful host Ivana is. She went out of her way to help us when our journey didn't go as planned, showing great kindness, flexibility, and thoughtfulness. The apartment simply reflects the care that she shows towards others. Every corner of it, every tiny detail made us feel comfortable during our stay – and a little spoiled, too! The position is also highly strategic to visit both the Old Town and the area of Lapad by walking a bit, while enjoying an amazing view from up above. We left the apartment with a sense of wholesomeness and a lot of gratitude. 10/10!
