You know what really surprised me about Red Holiday? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street in Lapad – Ulica Iva Vojnovića – where you can actually hear birds in the morning instead of tour buses rumbling by. I mean, most places with a 9.6 rating are either ridiculously expensive or too good to be true, but this little three-star spot honestly earned every point of that score.

The thing about staying in Lapad is that you’re sort of getting the best of both worlds without the Old Town circus. Sure, you’re not stumbling out your door onto the Stradun, but honestly? After spending a day dodging cruise ship crowds, coming back to this peaceful neighborhood feels like a small miracle. The beach is literally a five-minute walk down the hill – and I’m talking about Lapad Bay, which has those pebble shores that locals actually use, not just the tourist spots. There’s this little bakery around the corner where the owner always seems to be arguing with someone on the phone (in a friendly way, you know how it is), and their burek is ridiculously good for breakfast before you head into the city.

What really gets me about Red Holiday is how they’ve nailed the details that matter. The rooms smell like they’ve been properly aired out – not that fake cleaning chemical smell you get at bigger hotels. The shower pressure is actually decent, which honestly shocked me because Croatian hotels can be hit or miss on that front. And the staff… well, they’re not putting on some forced hospitality show. They just treat you like a normal person, which I appreciate. The guy at reception told me exactly which buses to take to avoid the crowds (the number 6 is your friend) and warned me that the restaurant next door gets pretty lively on Friday nights – not loud enough to be annoying, just, you know, Croatian-family-dinner lively.

Parking isn’t a nightmare like it is closer to the walls, and you can actually walk to some decent restaurants without feeling like you need a map. There’s this place called Orhan that’s maybe a ten-minute stroll where locals go for dinner – proper seafood, not tourist prices. The hotel itself feels more like a well-run guesthouse than a corporate chain, which might not be everyone’s thing, but I found it refreshing. No marble lobbies or fancy nonsense, just clean, comfortable rooms and people who actually know the area.

Look, if you’re the type who needs to be in the absolute center of everything, this might not be your spot. But if you want to experience Dubrovnik without feeling like you’re living in a theme park, Red Holiday gets it right. Plus, that 9.6 rating? After staying there, I totally understand why people keep coming back and rating it so highly – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

  Lovely style apartment complex!
  Grape wines as the roof of an outdoor table spot, filled with other plants, very quiet & cozy.
  Inside: Very chic, colorful. Spotless clean.
  Great shower, great mattress & fast air cond. Spacious with space in cabinets.
  Hosts are very friendly, easy going and up to date with responding our queries.
  
  What could be improved: Kitchen was not fully furnished.
  No cooker (stove/vitro) or oven available. Nor sink.
  Perhaps already noted in the description but partner & I were not aware.
  Kitchen did have a microwave, kettle, table/chairs, small fridge, and it does look very lovely.

  Todo estaba perfecto, el apartamento está muy bien comunicadi y tiene tiendas cercanas. El tamaño es perfecto para pasar unos días y la cama muy cómoda. La dueña súper atenta y amable.

  Petit déjeuner : sur place bouilloire, vaisselle nécessaire, micro onde, frigo et boulangerie à proximité. Bonne literie, clim, agréable déco actuel, linge de toilette et salle de bain très bien et propre ,calme, un bacon et loggia. Arrêt de bus à la porte.
  
  What could be improved: Manque un séchoir à linge pour maillots et serviettes de bain aussi une penderie avec des cintres, rien d'important !

  Zariadenie bolo velmi milé, umelecké estetické,. Rádio v sprche 😀 bolo super. Dobrá lokalita. Príjemný a ochotný personál. Určite odporúčame.
