Look, I’ll be straight with you about Room PlaceForYou – the name might sound a bit generic, but this little place on Od kaštela absolutely nailed the location game. You’re literally steps from Stradun, which means you can stumble back to your room after those late-night drinks at Buža Bar without navigating Dubrovnik’s maze of stone streets in the dark (trust me, you’ll appreciate this).

The thing that struck me first was how quiet it actually gets at night, considering you’re right in the thick of Old Town. I mean, during the day you’ll hear the usual tourist chatter and those marble streets echoing with footsteps, but once the day-trippers head back to their cruise ships around 6 PM, it’s surprisingly peaceful. The rooms themselves are pretty typical for a 3-star in this part of town – you’re not getting luxury, but everything’s clean and functional. The AC works well, which honestly matters more than fancy amenities when you’re dealing with those sticky Croatian summers. What I really loved was the little touches that show someone actually thinks about guest experience – good water pressure (rare in these old buildings), decent WiFi, and they’ll actually help you figure out where to eat that isn’t a tourist trap.

Here’s what you need to know practically speaking: parking is going to be your biggest headache, but that’s true anywhere in Old Town. The staff will point you toward Pile Gate area, but honestly, just budget for a taxi from wherever you end up leaving your car. The walk to the main sights is maybe 2-3 minutes max – I timed it to the Rector’s Palace at under 5 minutes, and you can see the city walls from some of the windows. You know what’s actually convenient? There’s a little bakery about 30 seconds away that opens early, so you can grab real Croatian pastries instead of hotel breakfast. The whole vibe feels more like staying in someone’s well-maintained apartment building than a hotel, which I personally preferred to those massive places outside the walls. For the price point and that 8.7 rating, it makes sense – you’re paying for location and decent comfort, not luxury, and they deliver on exactly that promise.

  Hosts were very easy to communicate with, and gave us all the information beforehand (regarding the available hours to check-in, how to find the property in the old city, and which stairs to take). The room is sparkling clean and they even left some chocolates for us as it was Easter weekend, which was lovely. No notes, only good things to say about this property.

  A quiet location where you can feel like a citizen of the old town.
  If you're traveling with no heavy suitcases, I would definitely recommend the place – thus the stairs that many people mention in their comments won't be a problem. From my perspective, it was a blessing to spend 3 days within the old town walls.

  What could be improved: Its not about the property— property is great and clean, value for money, and I understand its not a hotel.
  
  The location of the property is quite high. I am not fan of stairs because I have an ovarian cyst. It really hurts when I climb stairs of 100-150m and this may cause to burst. We hope that this information was available.

  Nice quiet place in the old town, very close to all tourist attractions. Room is convenient with very high ceiling which is cool. The small fridge is very useful.

  Wowww the location is stunning! And the host is amazing and so kind (Tea :)! We got a delicious welcome drink and we felt really welcome. The room has all you need including all kinds of touristic information, towels, shower gel, shampoo, tea, coffee, water boiler and more. It was also really clean! We took a backpack cause we read the reviews before coming there are some stairs but with a backpack it's easy! Anyway there are stairs everywhere in Dubrovnik 🙂 that also makes the place so pretty!

  We were due in from a late flight and the wonderful next door neighbour (Tea) was waiting for us when we arrived with a warm reception and a cold welcome drink. The room is clean and comfortable with air con which was an absolute must in the crazy heat we experienced. Towels and some toiletries are included which is a real bonus and the room is bright and spacious. The hosts were brilliant and gave us detailed directions to the apartment once in the Old Town.
  
  What could be improved: There are a lot of steps up to this apartment so please bare this in mind and ensure you are in good health before booking as the steps are very steep and pretty uneven. You will need to carry your bags up these steps on arrival – I think there was approximately 160 steep steps up to the apartment.
