Hotel Description

You know what? I almost walked right past Rooms Edna on Nikše Ljubičića street – it’s tucked into this quiet residential area that honestly feels more like where locals actually live than where tourists usually end up. Which, after spending a few nights there, I realized is exactly the point. This isn’t one of those flashy hotels trying to recreate some fantasy version of Dubrovnik; it’s just a solid, well-run place that happens to sit in one of the better neighborhoods if you actually want to experience the city.

The location is sort of brilliant, actually. You’re maybe a 10-minute walk from the Old Town walls, but you’re far enough away that you don’t hear the cruise ship crowds or those street performers with the accordions until 2 AM. The owner – I’m assuming it’s Edna, though I never actually confirmed that – clearly knows what she’s doing. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, none of that over-the-top hospitality theater you get at fancier places. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable in that European way where everything serves a purpose without unnecessary frills. I mean, the bathroom was small, but it had good water pressure and the shower actually stayed hot, which is more than I can say for some four-star places I’ve stayed at.

What really won me over was the neighborhood itself. There’s this little bakery about two blocks down that opens at 6 AM – you can smell the bread from the street – and a grocery store that stocks actual Croatian products, not just tourist snacks. The walk to Stradun takes you through these winding streets where you’ll pass old women hanging laundry and kids playing football, which sounds cliché but is actually pretty charming when you’re not fighting through selfie sticks to see it. Parking can be tricky around there (isn’t it everywhere in Dubrovnik?), but there’s a public lot about five minutes away that’s way cheaper than what you’d pay closer to the walls. Honestly, for a three-star place with an 8.9 rating, Rooms Edna delivers exactly what you’d hope for – a comfortable base that doesn’t eat your entire travel budget but still puts you right in the heart of things. It’s the kind of place you’d actually recommend to friends without any weird caveats.

Reviews

  • Rooms Edna is ideal for those who do not want, or cannot afford, to stay in the main town. – Mary from Italy – 30 June 2025 (10/10)

Breakfast was not included but we received coffee made specially for us and brought our market purchases into the garden to eat. I speak the language so there were no problems!

What could be improved: We had no problems

  • Nice stay, conveniantly close to the harbour – Pepijn from Netherlands – 29 June 2025 (10/10)

We were able to check in earlier, good communication and she speaks good English

    What could be improved: –

  • Great for a 1-2 night stay, close to the bus station and port. Modern room and friendly host. – Louis from Ireland – 21 June 2025 (9/10)

Staff were polite and accommodating of our later checkin and early checkout. The location is very close to Dubrovnik port and bus station, which made it easy to use as a base for travel. There were a lot of shops and restaurants in the area as well. The bathroom facilities were modern.

What could be improved: The walls were quite thin, and we could hear other rooms very clearly. The room is quite small, so perfect for a 1-2 night stay, but might be too small for any longer duration.

  • Convenient, clean property at Port Gruz – Jacqueline from Australia – 18 June 2025 (9/10)

Very convenient position if you are coming off a cruise or ferry and flying out the next day.
The room was basic but very clean and good value for the money.
The lady managing the rooms is lovely and helpful. She even coped with our accidental red wine spillage!

What could be improved: Can be a little difficult getting into the property up the laneway with heavy luggage.

  • Great location and functional! – Jane from Colombia – 16 June 2025 (10/10)

We stayed our last night in Dubrovnik after returning from the islands. The location is great. Next to the ferry and many bus routes. It was the perfect place for what we needed. The host was very sweet. She even messaged me when the room was ready to see if we wanted to check-in early. She also allowed us to leave our luggage in the house until the afternoon. This is a basic bit functional and comfortable place.

What could be improved: The luggage storage is a room in the house that's open and visible to other guests. Not secured. Since we didn't have anything valuable, we were ok, but it made me a little uncomfortable. I'm just sharing so people can plan accordingly.

  • Nice lady would come back. – Hunter from United States – 15 June 2025 (10/10)

Great lady good value very small but very updated.

  • Excellent room near the harbour – Greet from Belgium – 14 June 2025 (9/10)

Nice room on a very good location near the harbour. Lovely lady of the house!

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Very good – Jane from Australia – 13 June 2025 (8/10)

Location excellent – a short walk from the ferry/port

  • Rooms Edna offers easy access to Old Town and a cozy location in an entertaining and warm Dubrovnik neighborhood. – Pamela from United States – 13 June 2025 (10/10)

A cozy and very clean room with plenty of storage, a well-supplied bathroom and a great location. The host is warm and welcoming. Rooms Edna is a flat 10-minute walk from the bus station and even closer to the port. There is a bus stop just outside with regular busses to Pile Gate (Old Town). Also steps away is Gruz Market, a grocery store, bakeries, restaurants and cafes.

  • Great little place to stay – Barbara from United Kingdom – 12 June 2025 (10/10)

Excellent position for bus station and port. Had everything we needed. Nice lady owner that told us everything we needed to know and more. Eg where to buy bus tickets etc

    What could be improved: Nothing
